The work that was started by A.P.Moller in 1904 has developed into a major international enterprise with activities covering diverse areas as shipping, oil drilling, shipbuilding, aviation, industry, retail and IT services.

The history of A.P.Moller/ Maersk in India dates back to 1951 with the commencement of regular liner services to the Indian Malabar Coast. In 1990, Maersk India Pvt. Ltd. was established as a joint venture, but is today a wholly owned subsidiary of the A.P.Moller/ Maersk Group. Maersk India Pvt. Ltd. is today active in the following areas:

Maersk Sealand: with a network of 12 own offices, 3 representative offices, 6 sub-agents, and several third party representatives in smaller cities, has the largest representation across the country among all shipping lines.

Maersk Logistics India Pvt. Ltd.: represents Maersk Logistics in India. Besides international logistics solutions like Supply Chain Management, Forwarding and Groupage, Warehousing and Distribution, localised services offered include Customs Clearance, Local Transportation, Distribution, Heavy lift transport, India Nepal Land Bridge, Project handling, CFS management and Consultancy services.

Maersk Container Freight Station (CFS): is india’s first CFS near the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai. It provides the entire range of CFS activities for the shipping trade including stuffing and destuffing of cargo and storage of goods. Maersk CFS plans to build and operate another CFS at Dadri ICD Terminal Delhi as a joint venture with CONCOR.

Safmarine: has a major presence in the Europe, African and US Trade. In order to cater to indian market, Safmarine has 8 offices in major locations across India. This is in addition to representations in other small locations.
