Oracle established its Indian subsidiary in August 1993 with less than ten people. Shortly afterwards, in 1994, it became the first major US software company to establish an India Development Center in Bangalore to support its product development strategy for global markets.

Today, Oracle is one of the largest multi-national software employers in India. Oracle India has grown to over 3700 employees across the country with a technology network which has hundreds of thousands of Indian software developers as part of its community, besides significant sales and marketing operations, product development, global support and consulting, and internal BPO services.

The Bangalore and Hyderabad Development Centers have the finest professionals working in a world-class environment and creating best-in-class products for Oracle's global customers. Oracle further reinforced its India commitment recently when it announced a three-fold expansion in physical space at Bangalore and Hyderabad Centers, in line with its plans to increase its workforce to 4,000 in the near future. It has recently acquired land in Hyderabad, to create a world-class campus, having over half a million square feet of office space.

Currently, the Oracle Technology Park in Bangalore, is hosting three major Oracle divisions: Oracle's India Development Center (IDC), the company's International Support Center (ISC) and Oracle Solution Services India (OSSI). The three divisions comprise a 'Center of Excellence' supporting the company's global operations. India is the only country to have three different business units of this size and scope outside of the company's main headquarters in Redwood Shores, California.
