Naukri JobSpeak - Fresher Hiring Sees Double-Digit Jump as White Collar Job Market Grows 11% in June
India, 2nd June 2025: The Indian white collar job market saw an 11% YoY rise in hiring activity in June 2025, with the Naukri JobSpeak Index climbing to 2,854—up from 2,582 in the same month last year.
A closer look reveals strong momentum across key industries. Hospitality led with +21% growth, followed by BPO/ITES (+19%), Real Estate (+16%), Oil & Gas (+15%) and Healthcare (+11%).
Fresher Hiring witnesses uptick, fuelled by Non-IT Industries
Fresher hiring was up +11% YoY in June, largely led by non-IT sectors. Hospitality (+40%), Oil & Gas (+29%), and Real Estate (+25%) drove this growth, along with strong traction in Healthcare.
Beyond the core sectors, select sub-industries also saw a notable rise in fresher hiring. Architecture & Interior Design (+74%), Advertising & PR (+44%), Consumer Durables (+42%), and Media & Entertainment (+40%) were among the top gainers.
IT Hiring Rebounds After a Prolonged Soft Patch, Led by Tier-II Cities
After nearly a year of subdued hiring activity - with negative or near-flat growth in 8 of the last 12 months - the IT sector posted a +5% YoY growth in June 2025.This turnaround was largely powered by tier-II cities, with Baroda (+14%), Coimbatore (+10%), Kochi (+9%), and Ahmedabad (+8%) emerging as key hubs.
The demand was particularly strong for seasoned professionals with 16+ years of experience, who saw a +16% jump in hiring. Meanwhile, AI/ML roles across industries continued to post robust growth at +42% YoY.
Retail Sector Remains Stable; Consumer Durables, Beauty & Apparel See Strong Growth
Hiring in the Retail sector remained largely flat in June 2025, posting a +2% YoY growth. However, specific sub-sectors recorded sharper upticks, with Consumer Durables growing +29%, Beauty & Wellness at +14%, and Garments & Accessories at +12%.
Within Consumer Durables, Chennai saw the highest YoY growth at +149%, followed by Bengaluru at +57%.
BPO/ITES Sees Growth Across Locations and Roles
BPO/ITES continued its upward trend with +19% overall growth in June. Hiring activity expanded across both metro and non-metro locations—Jaipur (+64%), Baroda (+54%), Pune (+46%), and Bengaluru (+31%) led the gains.
The sector also recorded a +23% rise in fresher hiring and saw double-digit growth in mid (+20%) and senior (+16%) hiring. The highest salary band (20+ LPA) saw +24% growth in hiring within the sector.
