An aptitude test, two technical interviews, and a final HR interview round made up the exciting college hiring process. The entire selection process was held on our campus as it was an on-campus drive for the batch. The company wanted to hire freshers with a background in CS\/IT only. The aptitude test was conducted on Firstnaukri&#8217;s assessment platform &#8211;&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/fnat-aptitude-test\">FNAT<\/a>. I was excited to hear that Veritas Technologies would be visiting our campus for campus hiring. I had always wanted to work for Veritas, as I was impressed by their innovative culture and their commitment to social responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The interview process for the Software Engineer position at Veritas was divided into three rounds: an aptitude test, two technical interviews, and an HR interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Veritas_Technologies_Assessment_Test\"><\/span>Veritas Technologies Assessment Test<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the evaluation platform of Firstnaukri, popularly known as the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/firstnaukri-aptitude-test-fnat-guide\">Firstnaukri Aptitude Test [FNAT]<\/a>, the aptitude exam was conducted. The test had three sections: logical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning, and it took 60 minutes to complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Math, algebra, and geometry were all covered in the test&#8217;s quantitative reasoning part. The verbal reasoning portion of the exam includes subjects including vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension. Problem-solving and critical thinking were two subjects that were covered in the test&#8217;s logical reasoning part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/aptitude-test-sample-questions-answers-for-engineering-students\">Aptitude Test Questions and Answers<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/65-logical-reasoning-questions-and-answers-for-freshers\">Logical Reasoning Questions and Answers for Freshers<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/aptitude-test-sample-questions-answers-for-engineering-students\">Aptitude Test Sample Questions &amp; Answers for Engineering Students<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The aptitude exam was difficult but fair, in my opinion. I reviewed the fundamental ideas in arithmetic, English, and logical thinking as part of my exam preparation. I also completed several practice exams online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Technical_Interview_Experience_at_Veritas_%E2%80%93_Round_1_and_Round_2\"><\/span>Technical Interview Experience at Veritas &#8211; Round 1 and Round 2<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Two senior engineers from Veritas Technologies headed the panel that performed the technical interviews. My understanding of basic concepts in computer science, such as data structures and algorithms, was the main topic of the first technical interview. My background in software development, including my knowledge of testing and object-oriented programming, was the subject of the second technical interview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was questioned about my computer science education from college, my projects, and my exposure to various programming languages. My familiarity with current developments in software development was something the interviewers were also interested in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/freshers-technical-interview-questions\">Technical Interview Questions for Freshers<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/technical-interview-questions-answers-for-freshers-java-interview-questions\">JAVA Technical Interview Questions<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Round 1 Technical Interview<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I was asked what programming languages I was comfortable with. I chose C++ and Java. Below is the list of questions that were asked during the first round, which lasted around 1.5 hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>What is a reverse a singly linked list?<\/li><li>Apply the strlen function in string.<\/li><li>Apply strcmp using a pointer<\/li><li>What is Encapsulation<\/li><li>Demonstrate OOPs concepts with examples<\/li><li>What are Manipulators<\/li><li>What are storage classes in C<\/li><li>What are access specifiers in Java<\/li><li>What is Destructor<\/li><li>What is the difference between string and char array in C language?<\/li><li>Demonstrate Bubble sort<\/li><li>What is the Friend function<\/li><li>Write a function with variable-length arguments<\/li><li>What is Function overloading<\/li><li>What is function overloading error<\/li><li>What will happen when overloaded functions have the same arguments but different return types?<\/li><li>When I delete a node in a linked list, give a pointer to the node, and the node is not tail, what will happen?<\/li><li>What are collection classes?<\/li><li>What is rval and lval?<\/li><li>What is a Ternary operator?<\/li><li>What is your understanding of system-level coding?<\/li><li>What is assembler program and compiler theory?<\/li><li>What is the difference between abstract classes and interfaces?<\/li><li>Why is main, not private in Java?<\/li><li>What is the Super keyword?<\/li><li>What is Exception handling?<\/li><li>What are cmd line arguments? How to accept them as strings?<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Pro Tip:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>In order to crack this round, prepare for SQL queries (especially the complicated ones). The interviewer was very nice and had a thorough knowledge of the area. He asked me various questions from RESTful APIs to algorithms to data structures. He was considerate as well. Overall, the interview went well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Veritas Technologies technical Interview &#8211; Round 2<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I was first asked to briefly describe my project in my own words. Then, I was questioned on a subject of my choosing. I went with DBMS and data structures. The questions in the second round of Veritas basically ranged from the following topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Access modifiers<\/li><li>Data sampling<\/li><li>Data mining<\/li><li>Sealed modifiers<\/li><li>Normalization<\/li><li>Testing methods<\/li><li>Basics of Cloud Infrastructure Management<\/li><li>Automation framework based on some logical questions<\/li><li>DDL DML<\/li><li>DROP<\/li><li>Group clause use<\/li><li>What is strcmp and its use in Python?<\/li><li>Use recursion and iterative in tree traversal.<\/li><li>Scalar functions<\/li><li>Data structures for BFS and DFS.<\/li><li>Correlated subqueries<\/li><li>Amongst an array of elements (millions of elements), how will you return the fourth highest occurring element?<\/li><li>Join and enlist types<\/li><li>Disadvantages of a query<\/li><li>In a string say \u201cI am Nelson\u201d write a reverse function and the output should be \u201cNelson am I\u201d<\/li><li>What is the order of compilation, relocation, linking, and loading<\/li><li>What is fragmentation<\/li><li>Query evaluation engine<\/li><li>Entity concept in DBMS<\/li><li>Example of polymorphism<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I found the technical interviews to be challenging and overwhelming. I had prepared for the interviews by reviewing my coursework in computer science and by practicing my problem-solving skills. I also did some research on the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/latest-technology-trends-for-freshers\">latest technology trends<\/a>&nbsp;in software development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Veritas_HR_Interview_Experience_of_a_Fresher\"><\/span>Veritas HR Interview Experience of a Fresher<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The HR interview was conducted by a human resources manager from Veritas. The interviewer asked me questions about my work experience, my goals, and my fit for the company culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was asked about my internships, my&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/wp-admin\/post.php?post=4305&amp;action=edit\">career objective<\/a>, and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/how-to-respond-to-the-interview-question-why-do-you-want-to-work-with-our-company\">why I was interested in working at the company<\/a>. The interviewer was also interested in my&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.naukri.com\/campus\/career-guidance\/top-soft-skills-for-resume\">soft skills<\/a>, such as communication and teamwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I found the HR interview to be more conversational than the technical interviews. I was able to relax and answer the questions honestly. Overall, my interviewing process with Veritas for the role of software engineer went well. My comfort level was maintained throughout the interview process because of the interviewers&#8217; collective knowledge and friendliness. Veritas&#8217; commitment to nurturing talent and providing an environment for growth was evident throughout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confidence is key in any interview. Be sure to project confidence and enthusiasm throughout the interview process. This will show the interviewer that you are a good fit for the company and that you are excited about the opportunity.
