Animation is a technique or practice of creating the appearance of motion with the illusion of change by rapidly presenting a succession of images that differ very slightly.

Animators are creative professionals with particular talents in generating animation who work as technical animators. These animations can take the shape of analog media such as a flipbook, animated motion picture movies, videos, and GIFs, digital media such as animated GIFs, Flash animated files, videos, etc. 

An animated gif picture, commonly used on websites, may be used for basic animation. The animation gets complicated when you have to represent an animated reproduction of a human or alien face in a computer software game or a spirit of space combat.

Types of Animation

There are three primary types of animation:

Traditional Animation

Games will have different shot angles depending on how the user controls the character and whether the game is shot in first, second, or third-person points of view.

With movie animations, however, the viewer is taken to a series of scenes as desired by the makers of the animated movies. Though different angles can be presented, the movie animators have full control of angles and movements. 

Cycles are used in-game animation, whereas sequences are used in movie animation.

Several possible outcomes exist because characters in video games rely on the player. Every potential situation must have an animation, such as when a character sprint and then returns to the idle mode or when a character discharges a pistol and then re-holsters it.

Animated films are sequential, which means that no cycles may occur since various situations cannot happen outside of the animation frames that have been made.

Both cycles and sequences are crucial in an animator's work, but they are treated differently in the creative process.

Game animation relies on AI scripts and users, whereas movie animation controls what viewers see.

Objects in the environment in games are programmed to react to the user's movement. Even if there are predefined sequences in fun, they will not occur until the character gets to the area. An excellent example of this is programming an opponent to chase you once your character is within range.

AI scripts and programming allow the game to vary its story route in some episodic adventure games (such as Telltale Games' Walking Dead), where tales can change depending on the gamer's series of actions.

Movie animation often has a higher polygon budget than game animation.

This demonstrates the game animation industry's continual progress and the crossover between movie animation and game animation. In reality, Netflix's Blackmirror's Bandersnatch created an interactive live-action episode.
