Introduction

Intelligence is defined as the ability that allows individuals to learn, reason, and solve different problems. These abilities include perception, memory, language, planning, attention, and complex interplay of cognitive functions. However, when it comes to Intelligence, there are various differences between human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence.

Difference between articial intelligence and human intelligence

Artificial Intelligence is an area that is growing rapidly and aims to design and develop machines that can perform tasks that generally require human Intelligence, which includes problem-solving, perception, learning, and reasoning. On the contrary, human Intelligence is the cognitive ability of humans that enables them to understand and interact with the world. Though human Intelligence and artificial Intelligence have some similarities, there are also various differences. So, in this article, we will see the differences between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence in detail.

What is Artificial Intelligence?

Artificial Intelligence is a machine with the capability to solve problems generally done by humans with our natural Intelligence. This machine uses machine learning techniques and algorithms to analyze huge amounts of data and make decisions depending on that data. The various fields in which artificial Intelligence is used are media, healthcare, entertainment, etc.

Artificial intelligence systems have the ability to mimic human behavior based on their activity, which is used in robotics. Whether we are aware or not, Ai-powered systems are all over the place in our lives. We use AI in autocorrect, face recognition, smart speakers, Google Maps, etc. AI has this amazing feature in which it can self-analyze, self-learn, and self-correct with little or without human intervention, which makes it efficient and precise.

Types of Artificial Intelligence

We can define Artificial Intelligence into various types, but there are mainly two main categorizations: based on capabilities (Type 1) and functionality (Type 2) of AI.

Types of Artificial Intelligence

Advantages of Artificial Intelligence

  • AI can work endlessly without breaks or rest required.

  • AI can process huge amounts of data much faster than humans.

  • AI can work on tasks that are too dangerous or difficult for humans.

Disadvantages of Artificial Intelligence

  • AI does not have the ability to createinnovateor imagine things like humans.

  • If Machines are not programmed or trained properly, they can make errors.

  • AI may be unable to adapt to new or unexpected scenarios as its programming limits it.

What is Human Intelligence?

Human Intelligence is classified as a highly complex cognitive process, like understanding, decision-making, applying logic and reason, recognizing patterns,problem-solving, concept formation, and communication. One of the special features of human Intelligence is that it can go hand-in-hand with abstract emotions, which include passion, motivation, and self-awareness, which allies us to achieve complex goals.

Human Intelligence is a mental quality that comprises learning from experience, adapting to new situations, understanding and handling abstract concepts, and using that knowledge to manipulate one’s environment. Meaning, Human Intelligence can differ substantially depending on the context and the nature of the problems we are facing.

Human Intelligence also plays a significant role in assembling and interpreting information. It can give valuable insights and observations depending on personal experiences and knowledge, such as events, travel, or interpersonal relationships. Besides, human Intelligence can be a convincing tool for assembling sensitive information.

Advantages of Human Intelligence

  • Humans have the ability to adapt to new or unexpected scenarios.

  • Humans can give moral and ethical considerations in decision-making.

  • Humans are capable of creativity, emotional Intelligence, and intuition that AI lacks.

Disadvantages of Human Intelligence

  • Humans need breaks and rest, which can take longer than AI and slow down processes.

  • Humans are limited by their mental or physical capabilities.

  • Humans are inclined to biases and can make mistakes/errors or poor decisions.

Key Differences between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence

Below are the points that describe the differences between Artificial Intelligence and Human Intelligence:

Memory Usage

Robots use built-in commands that scientists design, whereas humans use content memory and thinking.

Learning Process

Artificial Intelligence is developed or created for precise tasks, and its applicability to different other tasks may be easy. However, Human Intelligence is based on the situations they encounter in life and the reactions they get, which may result in millions of functions in their lives overall.

Nature of Existence

The Artificial Intelligence field concentrates on designing or creating machines that can mimic human behavior. Whereas Human Intelligence revolves around adapting to the environment with the help of the combination of several cognitive processes.

Mode of creation

Artificial Intelligence, as the name implies, is tiny, artificial, or fake, and temporarily created by humans. However, Human Intelligence is more precise because of its creation by God. Human Intelligence is the original creator of artificial Intelligence, but they are unable to create a human with superiority.

StateHuman Brains are Analogues.Computers/Machines are digital.
Energy efficiencyThe human brain uses 25 watts of energy. The machine uses 2 watts of energy in general.
MultitaskingHumans work on multiple responsibilities. The time required to teach the machines on each response is considerably high.
AccuracyFor humans, there is generally room for “human error” as some details may be missed at one point or the other.AI always generates accurate results as it works based on a set of programmed rules.
Decision MakingHumans learn decision-making from experienced cases/scenarios; therefore, the decisions may be influenced by subjective elements that are not based on figures alone. While Machines are highly objective as they analyze based on purely gathered data.
AdaptationHumans can be flexible in response to random changes in their environment. As machines are unable to draw conclusions based on previous scenarios. It takes much more time to adapt to new changes.
SpeedHumans cannot match or beat the speed of machines or AI.Machines can handle more data at a speedier pace.
CreativityHumans are capable of creativity, innovation, and imagination.Machines have limited ability to be creative or to think outside the box.
Physical LimitationsHumans are limited by physical capabilities and need rest and maintenance.Machines do not have any physical limitations and can operate 24/7.
