Introduction
Before knowing about handheld AR devices, we have to understand what handheld devices are?
Any portable gadget that may be carried and held in one's palm is referred to as a handheld. Any computing or electrical device that is small and portable enough to be grasped and utilized in one or both hands qualifies as a handheld. Although cellular communication may be included in a handheld, this category can also include other computing devices.
Handheld AR Devices
Handheld devices are the popular device for Augmented Reality applications. It has all of the necessary hardware requirements for an AR system. However, some technical issues must be addressed before AR can reach its full potential. One of the problems is interaction in a handheld AR environment. Touch screen interaction is one of the most common interaction methods in handheld AR, yet interacting with virtual objects in a handheld AR scene is difficult. The freeze Interaction technique has been shown to be useful in handheld touch screen AR interaction in recent research. It does, however, have a disadvantage in that when users freeze their view, the entire scene is frozen. When virtual objects update in real-time, the real-world view remains static.
Some of the most popular handheld AR devices are smartphones and tablets. Smartphones and tablets are small and light, with all the necessary hardware for AR, including a display, camera, graphics, GPS compass, and accelerometer. Gaming, interactive marketing, education, and navigation are just a few of the applications for handheld AR devices.
