When I was new to web designing, I used to do all my website handling on my own. But when one of my friends saw me designing websites like this, then he suggested me to use Jimdo. After that, I started learning about Jimdo, and now I am quite familiar with this platform. So without wasting any time, let's come to the topic we will discuss in this blog. Initially, we will discuss the definition of Jimdo, and later on, we will have some pros and cons of Jimdo.

Jimdo is a web hosting service operated and owned by Jimdo GmbH that permits customers to build a website. It offers customers a WYSIWYG (what-you-see-is-what-you-get) web authoring tool, so customers do not need to learn HTML language to create a website. Customers create their website, and Jimdo hosts the website on their servers.

Jimdo was started in 2007 by Christian Springub, Matthias Henze, and Fridtjof Detzner. While they were still in high school, Detzner and Springub started their first internet agency designing websites for small businesses in Cuxhaven, Germany.

Jimdo v/s WordPress

The first word that comes to mind while describing Jimdo is "easy-to-use." Being a website builder, it offers you the most user-friendly experience a beginner can get. So, if you are a web virgin, Jimdo, with its WYSIWYG(what-you-see-is-what-you-get) tool, drag-and-drop features, and coding-free environment, will be the best choice for a start. But Jimdo is also a challenging builder because it varies in its packages. You can get a free, Business, Pro, and Platinum Jimdo. Unfortunately, the functions included in every version differ a lot because of this fact.

The WordPress open-source CMS is the most well-known and cherished website tool on a worldwide scale. Starting as a blogging platform, it went a long way beyond this limit. It became a vital resource for developing web projects of various types, such as non-profit websites, online stores, corporate websites, vivid portfolios, and much more.

In conclusion, Jimdo and WordPress are excellent starters for customers with intermediate web knowledge. Though, Jimdo is more appropriate for websites of small size or little local e-stores. It simply can't expand its functionality to power bigger websites with hundreds of pages crammed with content. On the other hand, WordPress looks like a pro while it receives to coping both with easiness and power.
