Virtualization is creating something virtual like a desktop, a server, or computer hardware. It lets you create valuable IT services using such resources traditionally bound to hardware. Suppose you have three physical servers with individual purposes.

We use Virtualization every day when we access the cloud and cloud services. Virtualization helps solve the problem of underutilized resources by creating a virtualization layer between the hardware components and the users. This enables the creation of virtual machines, which are virtual computers that can run multiple on a single set of hardware. The virtualization layer creates virtual hardware components for the virtual machine. The Virtual machine needs all of the same features that a regular computer does; it needs storage, access to a keyboard, network interface, processing, and RAM.

For IT services and resources to be virtualized, they are abstracted from the underlying physical delivery environment. Abstraction is an essential concept in big data. Everything is abstracted from the distributed computing environment, and the distributed computing environment from which these are abstracted is Hadoop and MapReduce.Details are abstracted to help developers or analysts so that they are not concerned with where the data elements are located.

What is Network Virtualization?

Network Virtualization refers to extracting network resources traditionally delivered from hardware to software. Network Virtualization can combine multiple physical networks into one virtual software-based network or divide one physical network into separate virtual networks. Networks are visualized similarly to other physical technologies. Network virtualization can be helpful if you need to define a network for data gathering with a particular set of performance characteristics and capacity and another network for applications with specific performance and capacity. Example of Network Virtualization

One example of network virtualization is Virtual LAN(Local Area Network). A VLAN is a subnet that can combine collections of devices in the group on a separate physical Local Area network. VLANs can improve the overall performance by grouping devices that communicate most frequently.

VMware NSX data center is the network virtualization and security platform that allows VMware’s cloud networking solution with a software approach to networking that extends across data centers, clouds, and application frameworks.
