Introduction

Welcome readers! We hope that you are doing well.

Data warehousing is a consistent and reliable strategy for analysing large and multidimensional data in today's computing world.

In this article, we will be discussing an important ETL(Extract, Transform and Load) tool produced by Oracle, namely, Oracle Warehousing Builder.

This blog will give you a detailed explanation of the Oracle warehousing Builder, which will help you extend your knowledge about data warehousing.

If you want to know more about the data warehousing tools, you can refer to this blog, Data WarehousingData Warehousing Tools and Application of Data Warehousing.

So, without further ado, let’s start the topic.

What is Data Warehouse?

A data warehouse is a data management system designed to support business intelligence(BI) activities, especially in analytics. The main intention of the data warehouse is to perform queries and analyses, and it can often contain a vast amount of historical data.

A data warehouse centralises and consolidates a large amount of data from several sources. Its analytical capabilities enable organisations to get valuable insights which improve decision making. It produces a historical record over time that can be invaluable for data scientists and business analysts.

Oracle Warehouse Builder Overview

Oracle Warehousing Builder is an integral part of the Oracle database. It is a comprehensive ETL tool produced by Oracle that offers data integration, data warehousing, data quality and metadata management solutions.

Features of Oracle Warehousing Builder

The features of the Oracle warehousing builder include:

  1. Management of total lifecycle of metadata.
  2. Enable Extraction, Transformation and Load(ETL).
  3. Data integration and consolidation.
  4. Data modelling
  5. Data profiling and data quality

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Data Warehouse?

A data warehouse is a data management system, a collection of software tools that stores, reports, and analyses vast amounts of diverse data from many sources.

What is the use of data warehouses?

Data warehouses are mainly used in Data Analytics(particularly in historical data). Many organisations use data warehouses to discover patterns and relationships in their data.

What are the types of data warehouses?

There are mainly three types of data warehouses:

  • Enterprise Data Warehouse(EDW)
  • Operational Data Store(ODS)
  • Data Mart

What are ETL tools?

The ETL stands for Extraction, Transformation and Load.  ETL tools move data between systems. Many companies use this tool to safely and reliably move their data from one system to another.
