Technical, Managerial experience
Responsible for understanding the technology stack, delivery approach, and strategic initiatives, in order to define appropriate test strategies and approaches.
Define and implement vision for the WI Technology testing function
Deliver projects in the testing space with high degree of test automation to support business agility with reduced production rollout time
Define metrics, practices, processes, reports and tools to ensure delivery is managed
Competency management for testing practice
Knowledge and stakeholder management
Implement steps to improve test automation levels
Define best practices and improvement ideas to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
Ensure testing standards, process, procedure and methodology is adhered to.
Maintain a detail functional understanding of the key business systems and future developments
To effectively represent the team in discussions with local Senior Management
Continuously communicate within the testing team members to ensure clear visibility and understanding of their individual roles and growth aspirations. Connect them with other appropriate opportunities within the team, department or the wider organisation.
To allocate work and manage the work load of the teams in line with agreed schedules
To work with the UK and India based test managers to plan effective and efficient user acceptance testing. This will involve long range resource planning, estimating testing effort, planning schedules, defining test strategies, reviewing test scripts, defect management and test management during test execution, management progress reports.
To identify and progress process improvements in test approaches in order to minimise the number of defects reaching production and to minimise elapsed time in testing.
To liaise with business and systems areas to ensure the overall test approach is aligned with the technology and business roadmap and to ensure our level of service meets their requirements
Monitor the testing/delivery metrics to spot trends and take appropriate actions in the spirit of relentless pursuit of quality
To ensure the team is promoted and made visible within the Indian organisation
Experience and Qualifications
B.E./B.Tech. or M.C.A. from a reputed University
10 - 12 years
Essential Skills / Experience
Experience in testing with thorough understanding of test principles such as unit, smoke, functional (black box/white box), user acceptance and usability testing
Experience handling large testing teams in both Shared Service model as well as in Productised teams
Strong knowledge and working experience of Capital Markets and Fund management.
Familiarity with the Mutual Funds and Investment Management industry
Knowledge of Agile software development life-cycle methodologies
Exposure to testing tools such as, Quality Center, Selenium, QTP, Jira, Test Complete, Soap UI etc.
Ability to understand functional specifications from the customer perspective and design appropriate acceptance tests
Proven experience of driving automation for functional and non-functional testing.
Ability to create and implement test automation frameworks in order to enable agile testing and delivery.
Managing end-to-end test engagements in "vendor" driven projects/engagements along with providing overall strategy, engagement, governance etc.
Experience of working with multi-cultural and geographically disparate teams
Understanding of multi-tiered architecture and good exposure to test home grown applications along with third party products in on premise applications, SaaS and cloud based implementation
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with different levels of stakeholders
Ability to transform organisation / testing teams from Manual to Automated / Semi automated mode
Good knowledge of prevailing trends in testing domain for agile deliveries
Experience of establishing agile practices in QA teams and reduce testing time for accelerated product verification
Ability to analyse defects, spot trends and suggest corrective actions for early detection
Experience of working in tight deadlines in a matured, risk-based and 'time-boxed' testing environment
Be able to demonstrate consistent and good judgement of assessing severity of issues
ISTQB Management Certificate in Software Testing
Six Sigma qualifications or proven experience in a process improvement role
Exposure to a varied environments and products like:
J2EE technologies and the WebSphere family of products
C++/.NET and the Microsoft environment
Web Services, SOAP, XML messaging etc.

Proven experience of liaison with stakeholders in international locations
