The Cloud System Engineer, Senior researches, designs, and implements cloud based infrastructure components and technologies, while performing core support functions across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, spanning across Microsoft Azure and AWS. This position exists to ensure that this technical landscape operates optimally while meeting or exceeding all functional and capacity requirements. This individual will also provide assistance across project delivery, ongoing administration including monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and ensure availability and reliability across multiple cloud providers and services. This position also requires the individual to maintain currency of technical skills in relevant technologies, on-call availability, perform work after-hours including weekends, and some travel when necessary.
The Senior System Engineer will Implement and support Azure components such as Availability Zones, Scale Sets, Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Express Route, Vnets, Route Tables, Load Balancers, and PaaS services of Azure Data Lake Store and Azure SQL Database, as well as supports IaaS, SaaS, and PaaS environments across Azure and AWS components in addition to migrating the workload to cloud from on-premise. It is important that the Sytem Engineer has a good understanding on multi-forest and multi-domain Active Directory, DNS, DFS, Group Policies, Schema Extensions, LDAP management, MIM, and Office365 integration.
The Cloud System Engineer, Senior will also be responsible for automation and instrumentation. This includes automation of server build and existing run books using scripting languages and platforms such as PowerShell, Python, Ansible, System Center, Puppet, and Chef and to a lesser degree supports server hardware. This includes the ability to design, install, configure, and diagnose secure operating system and storage systems, both on-site and with remote diagnostic tools. Maintaing and enhancing monitoring agents deployment, configuration thresholds, and licensing tracking and administration across all platforms for all customers in addition to maintenance and enhancement of security related components, such as PKI certificates, CIS Benchmark hardening configurations, and various encryption cyphers are also key components to this position. Some additional responsibilities of this role are to create/maintain documentation and procedures pertaining to the supported Cloud platforms and versions, storage and backup and recovery solutions and provide support to data protection technologies on AZRE and AWS, including on premise solutions.
It is expected that the Cloud System Engineer participates in and/or facilitates project delivery, strategic planning, and development associated with future design, performance, and capacity management with other retail operating organizations and leads and collaborates with other support teams with the remediation of audit and compliance requirements.


Education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities that are minimal in this role are as follows:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field or related technical experience and certifications.
Willingness to maintain currency of technical skills in relevant technologies by attending company sponsored and self-initiated training.
Minimum 5 years of experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud technologies.
Minimum 3 years of experience in supporting Windows Server OS and Active Directory in an enterprise environment. RHEL Operating knowledge is a plus.
Minimum five years of experience in automation of run books using scripting languages and platforms such as PowerShell, Ansible, System Center, Puppet, and Chef.
Minimum two years of experience with AWS infrastructure components and automation is a plus
Minimum of five years of experience with security related components, such as PKI certificates, CIS Benchmark hardening configurations, and current encryption cyphers.
Strong familiarity and experience with disk storage and backup/recovery solutions in an enterprise environment (preferably CommVault Backup solutions; NetApp or Hitachi storage solutions).
Good to have 3 years of experience with several of the following tools: Centrify, Active Directory, Group Policy, PerfMon, NetMon, NetApps OnCommand Unified Management, VMware vCenter, Cisco Central, Microsoft SCOM, SCCM, SCORCH, Microsoft WSUS, and CommVault in an Enterprise Environment.
Familiarity with meeting requirements from regulations in the financial sector, such as PCI DSS and FDIC.
Should have experience in ARM templates
Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, customer service, computer and computer application skills.
Strong verbal, written communication and documentation skills.
The ability to work within change control procedures and maintenance windows.
The ability to work in a collaborative environment as well as independently.
