Akamai is looking for an experienced lawyer with demonstrated abilities to be a key business partner for highly motivated and technology savvy clients. The successful candidate will be expected to handle a wide variety of commercial contract negotiations with customers, vendors, and network partners in the Asia- Pacific (APJ) region, provide sound legal and business advice to both business and legal management team(s), and take the technical deep dives required to understand the implications of the transactions in negotiation. The role will include handling, prioritizing, and following through on numerous projects simultaneously. About the Team
Akamai Legal is a highly- experienced global team of lawyers and other legal professionals dedicated to helping drive Akamai s next phase of growth. We embrace the challenge of working at the intersection of rapid innovation and constantly evolving laws and welcome the opportunity to draw on our collective legal expertise to provide creative solutions to business problems. The Legal team currently consists of over forty professionals located in the U.S., the UK, Germany, Poland, Singapore, Australia, India, China, and Japan.
Prepare, review, comment on, and negotiate contracts and other commercial transactional documents with Akamai s customers, vendors, and network partners.
Collaborate with and advise Akamai cross- functional business teams, including business personnel from sales, networks, finance, tax, compliance, information security, product management and IT teams, on legal and regulatory risk associated with commercial contract matters and projects.
Assure conformity and consistency in application of Akamai legal and business policies and practices.
Participate in efforts to enhance the legal department s overall performance.
Handle other tasks that arise from time to time and require the attention of an Akamai attorney.
Fully qualified lawyer admitted to Bar Council in India.
Minimum of 5 post- qualification years of legal support or similar experience in private practice or in- house.
Strong contract drafting and negotiations skills in English.
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
Experience in telco and technology sectors.
Excellent analytical, negotiation and contract drafting skills in a variety of technology and/ or licensing agreements, including software and/ or managed service offerings.
Solid working knowledge of international commercial contract law, corporate law, competition law, software licensing, privacy and data protection and intellectual property rights.
Astute commercial awareness, robust time and project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Solid experience in the Internet, IT or telecommunications field, ideally with a mix of law firm training and/ or substantial in- house experience.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including a clear and concise drafting style.
Solid experience providing legal support to Sales personnel.
Ability to multi- task and provide follow- through on projects.
Project management skills, a plus.
Additional verbal and legal drafting skills in a language other than English, a plus.
Flexibility to work with colleagues and internal clients located in diverse regions of the world.
