    AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

    Maintenance Budget Planning ( Revenue Budget):

    Study previous history of budgets and actual expenses. Understand current needs based on business plan. Review critical spares requirements, utility requirements, statutory requirements other building requirements; Discuss the same with maintenance team and consolidate the revenue budget. Participate in budget meetings, discuss with finance head and freeze the budget.

    Capex Budgeting:

    In case of Capex budget, receive inputs on future business projections, plant expansions and future equipment / machine needs. Estimate the cost for each machine and installation charges. Prepare budget. Discuss with plant head and finance head and consolidate budget. Forward the same to plant head and industrial controller and seek approval.

    Budget Monitoring and Control:

    Review buying requests, quotations, and comparative charts, negotiate with vendors and finalize. Track budget expenses on-goingly and ensure within budget limits. Check the limits available every time before approving the purchase order. In case of exceeding the limits due to business requirements, discuss with finance head and plant head and seek approval.

    Availability of production lines:

    Monitor downtime & availability for each equipment & utility, availability of all production lines - benches & equipments availability; Study MTTR (Mean time to repair) and MTBR (Mean time between failure). Discuss with the team members and cross functional team and analyze root cause. Identify solution and take corrective action to eliminate the problems. Identify the system / machines where there could be potential problems. Take action to prevent occurrence of such problems

    Preventive Maintenance/ Planned Maintenance / TPM:

    Review and finalize effective preventive maintenance, planned maintenance schedule and ensure implementation as per schedule. Audit the facility regularly to identify process lags if any and take corrective action. Make plant personnel aware of TPM concepts; Implement TPM as per SPS requirements; Review periodically and make improvements.

    Utility management & Energy conservation:

    Review planned maintenance schedule for utilities. Check and ensure availability of utility spares. Monitor implementation of schedule; Spot abnormalities, analyze root cause and take corrective action. Define utility requirement (quality & quantity) for the expanded plant & new lines and implement the same in plant. Monitor and analyze consumption patterns. Suggest various tests to spot leakages and provide solutions. Drive energy efficiency programme in the organization. Perform energy efficiency audits periodically. Train the maintenance team and other relevant personnel on energy conservation

    Statutory compliance:

    Review and update statutory requirements applicable to the plant. Monitor and ensure compliance to the statutory requirements including those of TNEB, TNPCB, Factory licensing, hazards and waste management. Interface with statutory authorities and facilitate external audits. Perform internal audits and take corrective action.

    Safety:

    Implement Safety Systems and procedures; Motivate employees to adhere to safety rules. Audit the plant periodically to identify safety violations if any. Work with the EHS incharge to eliminate the same. Identify root cause of accidents and prevent re-occurrence of such accidents. Ensure maintenance of safety records as per procedure

    Spares Management:

    Develop spares management system (Store, replenishment plan, issue, control); Ensure availability of critical spares as per requirement and control inventory; Monitor purchase, storage and issue of spares and control budgets;

    Projects management:

    Receive inputs on the projected volumes of products that require expansions; Receive process and layout from methods team. Plan for expansions, modifications; Validate the project plan prepared by the team and improve the plan. Review the investment authorization reports which contain information on criticality of the projects / equipments, Safety parameters, ROI and seek approval from Plant head and Head Industrial operations. Review bill of materials and finalize. Identify and review suppliers and confirm based on quality cost and delivery capabilities. Track progress and trouble shoot where ever required. Ensure that the project is well within budgets and control cost. Submit project completion report to plant head and finance

    Leadership Systems / Process development:

    Design and establish suitable systems processes appropriate to functional and organisational requirements. Set clear directions to team members in effectively executing the systems / processes. Participate in internal/cross functional / SIM meetings to track performance; Analyse and identify root cause and eliminate the same. Ensure corrective / preventive action and drive continual improvements.

    Leadership People Development:

    Set Objectives and KPI to all direct reportees in line with the company and Plant objectives. Continuously monitor and mentor direct reportees to achieve the set targets. Conduct Half yearly and Annual appraisals. Identify and Promote talent. Identify training needs and in coordination with Human resources ensure timely execution of the training programs. Conduct individual development program for long term career planning and individual development. Be a role model to reportees, demonstrate leadership, commitment and walk the talk

    SPECIFIC ISSUES

    The maintenance manager would require developing an efficient and effective team to trouble shoot quickly and ensure maximum availability of lines and utilities to production. Resource mobilization, Techno-commercial validations, negotiations would be a key requirement for this position. Project management skills, Planned maintenance, TPM, 5S and safety systems implementation would be fundamental to the Job.
