As an Network Application Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for both Network and Management activities. Focusing on Network Performance and Management, you will be responsible for the operational health (Security, Availability, Performance, Interoperability and Reliability) of Micron's data communications systems. This position combines engineering disciplines with a business focus for delivering IT performance management solutions. You will utilize Wireshark/tcpdump/iperf for packet analysis and Riverbed's technologies to plan, design, deploy, operate, manage and optimize IT infrastructures. You will support the acquisition, installation, maintenance, and administration of Micron's data and voice communications systems. Network Engineers specialize in LAN/WAN and Telecommunications hardware, software and cabling. You will regularly work with Micron's Business Units to ensure solutions meet or exceed business requirements. You will be expected to suggest, promote, and leverage published standards to minimize environment complexity and ensure regulatory as well as license compliance.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Provide application support for the worldwide Micron enterprise.

Serve as an expert in cloud migration, WAN optimization, networking and application performance, and/or applications delivery, utilizing Riverbed's complete Application Performance portfolio.

Provide specialized planning and design expertise in network configuration and analysis, application performance troubleshooting and/or optimization.

Analyze and understand customer's IT organization, requirements and processes, and use this knowledge to assist in achieving full adoption and utilization of Client's solutions to maximize ROI and business value.

Present and articulate advanced product features, benefits, and overall product solutions.

Work directly with customers, colleagues and other stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Extensive knowledge of packet analysis.

Deep knowledge of OSI, TCP/IP Stack, window scaling, windowing and other TCP concepts.

Extensive knowledge of application performance and Wan optimization tools.

Hands-on experience of Wireshark/tcpdump/iperf for packet analysis.

Candidate should be the individual contributor to handle application performance related issues.

Manage and maintain the existing environment.
Integrate and support new technology that requires network transport.
Respond appropriately to alarms, alerts, and notifications for the environment from the management system.
Maintain the information in the management system.
Coordinate with vendors regarding updates to equipment and the equipment lifecycle.
Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and business units for upgrades of services and application performance.
Optimize performance of existing and new equipment.
Configure and operate equipment that is supported.
Document processes and procedures.

Define, design, and implement new/existing application modification/upgrade solutions.

Define, in conjunction with users and service providers, functionality required to support business strategies.
Work with customers to gather requirements, and propose, engineer, and provision system solutions.
Research and partner with vendors and management to select products that best meet company needs.
Manage system setup and standardization of features and usage.
Install, configure, support, and maintain hardware and operating system solutions.
Create system documentation, testing, training, and post-deployment assessments.

Support day-to-day operations and provide application support.

Provide 24x7 on-call technical support and expertise for application issues.
Monitor the environment for potential system issues and resolve appropriately.
Adhere to the change management process for any planned maintenance, or when potential issues are identified.
Provide training for new team members and external support teams.
Coordinate vendor-specific support and problem resolution.

Ensure the application health (Security, Availability, Performance, Interoperability and Reliability) of Micron's core computing resources.

Establish and implement policies, procedures, and standards, and ensure conformance.
Plan and implement strategies for minimizing service outages, and for reducing the impact of such outages on business operations (i.e., availability, contingency, and disaster planning).
Adhere to Micron's established processes and policies.

Continually work to improve operations.

Evaluate and test new software for compatibility with the computing environment.
Propose and implement system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that will improve the performance and reliability of the applications.
Identify service improvement opportunities.

Evolve the computing environment to meet future demands.

Analyze operating statistics and project future demands for service (i.e., capacity planning).
Benchmark best practices where appropriate.
Develop cost-effective solutions
Communicate and collaborate with peer groups (enterprise architects, security team, network team, etc.).
