About the Job

Do you want to be part of a team of engineers solving problems to help scale and improve the technical support team for one of the leading internet software companies A technical support team that that is providing service to thousands of the leading media, retail, high tech, financial, and emerging internet business in the world.

As a QA Engineer you will work as part of the team responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of a quality product by performing ad- hoc and structured tests on a daily basis. You will be involved in developing, modifying, and executing software test plans; analyze and write test standards and procedures; maintain documentation of results; and work closely with development engineers in resolution of problems.

About the Team

The Technical Support Engineering team is a strategic expansion to the Akamai Technical Support team. The engineering team will work with all divisions of the global technical support organization. The overall organization is responsible for supporting our global customers, which include many Fortune 500 corporations. The focus for the engineering team will be to solve problems that will lead to a better and faster support experience for Akamai s customers.

The team s mission is to develop, maintain, and operate applications that reduce the amount of time spent by Technical Support Engineers to resolve customer cases.


Create feature- level test plans (eg, functional, integration, etc)

Design and implement test case changes and framework changes to support quality infrastructure

Design, write and execute automated test scripts, test harnesses or tools

Participate in requirement documentation, reviews, and design reviews

Recommend modifications to processes and procedures, and contribute to best practices, architecture, and implementations

Promote and solicit ideas within project teams

Interact with the Architects, Technical Support Engineers and other stakeholders to understand the business requirements/ use- cases

Work independently and with team members, lead(s), and architects in local office, and other global offices

Work closely with other team members, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure that all requirements and met and work as per specification

Work individually and as part of a team, communicating daily updates to lead and/ or manager via written status and issue- tracking system updates

Practice continual learning and strive to improve your technical, project, and people skills

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor s degree or Master s Degree with at least 1 year experience in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or technology related discipline

1 year experience in QA Engineering/ Software testing

Knowledge of software quality engineering processes, tools, methods, test development and support

Experience in using bug tracking applications such as Bugzilla, JIRA etc

Excellent problem solving skills

Desired Qualifications

Good knowledge of testing applications that analyze and report data

Good at testing backend integration/ integration with external and internal APIs

Working knowledge of Java or Python

Working knowledge of test automation tools (such as Selenium, UI Automation/ Instruments, Robotium, UIAutomator), web services methodologies (such as JSON, REST), and network tools (such as Charles Proxy, Wireshark, tcpdump), and Agile/ Scrum environments

Working knowledge of project management software, such as MS Project, SVN, and open source tools such as Redmine, Jira etc

Works independently and is self- motivated, takes initiative, overcomes obstacles, and solves problems

Able to quickly master and apply new technologies and stay abreast of industry trends

Possess strong passion for learning new/ emerging technologies and has a very high technical problem solving acumen

Experience with Content Distribution Networks.

Hands on experience in troubleshooting/ customer technical support

Ability to drive or develop automation tools

Knowledge of basic networking security principles

Passion for solving problems
