Central Retail Pricing is core team that generates prices for worldwide Amazon inventory, you'll play a key role in the evolution of our machine learning based Pricing algorithms to solve the world's most complex technical challenges in pricing optimization, large-scale computing, distributed systems, web applications, algorithms and data mining - to name a few. The Pricing systems are one of the first machine learning systems in Amazon, responsible for determining and publishing prices automatically, for the millions of items that Amazon sells worldwide ranging from Books to Consumer Electronics to Shoes. We are looking for a sharp, experienced Data Scientist who will help identify patterns in pricing errors and suggest on how to fix those errors so that they dont reoccur. The scientist will play a pivotal role in the expansion of pricing software, with the mission to build and execute streamlined, automated processes for computing, validating and publishing prices, as well as the internal workflows and interfaces that our business teams use to manage them. Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field with 5 years of working experience as a Data Scientist
Experienced in writing academic-styled papers for presenting both the methodologies used and results for data science projects.
Master's degree in Statistics, Applied Math, Operations Research, Economics, or a related quantitative field with at least 2 years of working experience as a Data Scientist.
Proficient with data analysis and modeling software such as Spark, R, etc.
Proficient with using scripting language such as Python and data manipulation/analysis libraries such as Scikit-learn and Pandas for analyzing and modeling data.
Experienced in using multiple data science methodologies to solve complex business problems.
Experienced in handling large data sets using SQL and databases in a business environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
