    The Sustainability Officer is fully responsible for procurement of raw material and to oversee and timely execution of sustainability project.

    Industry: Applicants from SME Food Processing sector will be preferred.

    Job Location : Noro, Western Province, Solomon Islands



    Devise ways and means to maximize commodity buying efficiency and minimize risks.

    Collaborate with commodities team and buyers to ensure deadlines are met.

    Develop and manage pricing strategies.

    Encourage team spirit and discuss performance periodically.

    Preserve and promote company standards by building a strong and self-sufficient commodity supply base.

    Collaborate with suppliers on improving quality.

    Focus on developing supplier performance.

    Assist in keeping project within budgeting guidelines.

    Instruct and support trainees on commodity sourcing.

    Supervise supply quality and feedback.

    Develop and maintain business communication with suppliers regarding their concerns.

    Encourage staff to design novel techniques for commodity sourcing.

    Assess and approve supplier and traceability in the supply chain 

    Prepare daily and monthly procurement and financials details updates and send to the management. 

    Conducting Survey Visits to the concerned communities/Villages /Farmers for accurate data collection and prepare a report on time and submit to the management as per the schedule.

    Engage and build trust with the key stakeholders, especially farmers and company staffs.

    Maintain documents regarding the field visit and lacerate a database to manager data, and draft a final report presenting results.

    Assist the GM in planning and implementation of work plan to attain outreach goals.

    Monitor and evaluate the performance of Field Officer against agreed performance objectives.

    Ensure integrity and strict application by Field Officer on field operations policies and procedures

    In conjunction with the GM, prepare operational plan
    Monitor and evaluation of support staff.

    Provide ongoing guidance and ensure that staff are highly motivated.

    Manage finances, budget, banking accounts and reconciliations.

    Perform financial analysis, provide solutions /recommendations and implement approved changes

    Manage relevant audits.


    To implement the project as per the timeline.

    Analyse and evaluate data and ensure achievements of objectives and/or take corrective actions when necessary to meet project objectives.

    To regularly undertake field visits to monitor project activities

    To develop efficient and adequate management systems and routines to ensure high quality performance.

    To convene regular, participatory, and documented staff meetings in order to ensure smooth management and implementation of activities at field level

    To promote and initiate meetings with government agencies, NGOs for ensuring strong coordination and cooperation among all partners and stakeholders.

    To be innovative, creative and have the ability to deal with different models for capacity development of small holder farmers.

    To develop all necessary training modules for the project.

    To ensure timely preparation for monthly and quarterly reports 

    To ensure the active involvement of project staff in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project.

    To actively evaluate the security situation at provincial levels and implement strong adherence by staff on security regulations and precautions.

    To set up adequate quality control mechanisms in the project implementation

    Must be willing to travel to remote locations, stay in villages, keen to actively conduct and actively engage in programs for small holder well being. 

    Candidate must be willing to learn the local language, travel by boats to neighbouring islands.


    Sound knowledge of administration, planning, budgeting and report writing

    Very good command of English (spoken & written)

    Conflict resolution, at office as well as at community level.

    Good supervisory, monitoring, leadership, analytical and troubleshooting skills

    Good computer skills in MS Office

    Strong interpersonal and communication skills and capacity to deal with different rural communities with varied political/socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.

    Advanced writing and communication skills in English


    Masters degree or other equivalent higher level training in agricultural, sociology, rural development, forestry, natural resource management, environmental or social sciences or business


    Minimum of 6 years relevant business experience or non-profit, with increasing responsibilities in programme and people management

    Field experience, particularly with local communities, in rural areas

    Adequate experience in the field of sustainability management, comfortable to work in interior and remote areas and knowledgeable in innovation socio economic programs geared towards promoting the coconut industry.
