Job Description of an SPE:

  • Individuals in this role are responsible for meeting process deliverables in terms of targets; Productivity (30 claims per day) and quality targets (98% Overall DPU) for complex transaction processes (knowledge intensive/ transaction value based) in clients/internal applications.
  • They also work on proactive identification of issues and assist the team in resolving the same.
  • Responsible for monitoring and implementing controls focused on ensuring excellent customer service is achieved with error-free executions. Review, analyze and coordinate delivery requirements with business units.
  • Support the Process Specialists in knowledge management activities by performing root cause analysis on the errors made by the team members.
  • There could be a requirement to handle inbound and outbound calls from the customers as per the process defined in the Standard Operating procedure (SOP). The calls are made-received to/from the customers as per the client/customer operating manual.
  • Efficiently process pre-defined number of transactions as assigned with highest level of accuracy as agreed upon by the client.
  • Strive to understand and resolve issues/queries at the first instance.
  • Articulate/ communicate in a manner which is understood by clients / end-users
  • Generate client-specified reports relating to operations
  • Respond to data requests and other inquiries from the client.
  • Adhere to audit compliance (Internal, Statutory Audit) of all Healthcare processes as laid out by Cognizant / the client of Cognizant
  • Ensure process guidelines are followed and met as documented
  • Adhere to shift handover processes.
  • Raise process related issues / concerns on time with process and team leads.
  • Stay updated with the process knowledge / changes - refer to knowledge updates/ repositories to effectively process transactions.
  • Implement small process improvement projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information, policies, and procedures as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) protocols.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of performance including but not limited to attendance, adherence to protocols, customer courtesy, and all other productivity and efficiency targets and objectives.
  • Contribute new ideas and innovative approaches at work.
  • Contribute towards creation of knowledge updates & stay updated with process knowledge / changes. Follow up on all pending claims appropriately and initiate the next steps
  • Act as a buddy for New Hires and bring them up to the learning curve
    Contribute to and participate proactively in knowledge sharing sessions.
