Lead – Market Intelligence & Analytics & SPOC – MEP
Job Description
Purpose/Objective:
- Responsible for maintaining industry connections related to category products, monitoring market changes, new product developments, pricing and supply dynamics, trade flows, and regulatory scenarios (local and international).
- Provide deep insights into supply-side trends, demand and cost drivers, and conduct market research to influence the value chain.
- Analyze internal procurement data to identify opportunities for value creation, risk mitigation, and support fact-based decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Group Category Procurement (GCP) Overview:
GCP manages strategic sourcing for ~60-70% of Group CAPEX across six categories: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical & MHS, MEP, Interior & Finish, and Bulk/ARC/Group Services. Focus areas include:
- Vendor Development & Engagement Strategy
- Value Engineering (Alternative Materials/Technologies)
- Market Intelligence & Benchmarking
- Cost Efficiency via Economies of Scale & Standardization
Market Intelligence & Analytics:
- Analyze key metrics, indices, industry updates, trade flows, and developments from exchanges, portals, journals, and secondary sources.
- Gather supply-side intelligence from market sources and category leads, including technology trends and supply chain risks.
- Collaborate with AI teams to develop price forecasting models with detailed product/category/market segmentation.
- Build automated tools to model supply-side costing, incorporating raw materials, value addition, indirect costs, industry margins, logistics, and lifecycle costs.
- Monitor government policies, EXIM rules, tariffs, and non-tariff measures across key regions (Europe, Southeast Asia, China, India).
- Track best practices, M&A activities, and market gaps relevant to categories and sub-categories.
- Create dashboards and guidance tools based on cost and market variables to support strategic sourcing decisions.
- Establish and maintain industry contacts across manufacturers, traders, buyers, competitors, and neutral entities.
SPOC Responsibilities (Single Point of Contact):
- Act as liaison between Category Procurement (GCP) and Business Units (BUs).
- Coordinate project requirements, timelines, and priorities.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement through regular updates and meetings.
- Collect and relay performance feedback from BUs regarding suppliers and contracts.
- Maintain documentation and report progress to ensure smooth collaboration between GCP and BUs.
Experience & Exposure:
- 12+ years of experience in category sourcing within the infrastructure industry.
- Proven exposure to market research and analytics, preferably in relevant sectors (Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, MHS, Real Estate, Interior & Furnishing, Steel).
- Strong industry connections with OEMs, regulatory bodies, and associations (local and global commodity exchanges).
- Experience in consulting organizations within Procurement/SCM, with hands-on involvement in market intelligence and analytics during transformation processes.
