Job Description

Role & responsibilities

This role will be responsible for spearheading urban development initiatives within the Master Planning department at NMDPL (Adani). This role involves strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the successful execution of urban projects that align with organizational goals. This position requires a visionary leader who can navigate complex urban planning challenges while promoting innovation and collaboration.



Preferred candidate profile

Strategic Planning and Development:

Lead the development and execution of urban planning strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive planning and integration of various urban development projects.

Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for proposed urban projects.

Ensure compliance with local regulations and standards in all planning activities.

Engage with stakeholders to gather insights and feedback for effective planning.

Monitor and evaluate the progress of urban planning initiatives, making adjustments as necessary.


Project Management:

Oversee the planning, design, and implementation of urban development projects from inception to completion.

Develop project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation plans to ensure successful project delivery.

Coordinate with external consultants and contractors to ensure project alignment with organizational standards.

Facilitate regular project status meetings to communicate progress and address challenges.

Implement project management best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Ensure quality control and adherence to project specifications throughout the project lifecycle.


Stakeholder Engagement:

Identify and engage with key internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for urban planning initiatives.

Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and other relevant entities.

Facilitate public consultations and workshops to gather community input on urban planning projects.

Prepare and present reports to senior management and stakeholders on project status and outcomes.

Address stakeholder concerns and feedback in a timely and effective manner.

Promote transparency and accountability in all stakeholder interactions.


Budget Management:

Develop and manage the budget for urban planning projects, ensuring alignment with organizational financial goals.

Monitor project expenditures and ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.

Prepare financial reports and forecasts related to urban planning initiatives.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize resource utilization.

Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.

Conduct post-project financial analysis to assess budget performance and inform future planning.


Digitization and Automation:

Lead and execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.

Innovate and implement automation solutions to support overall organizational goals and strategy.

Review and implement process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Train team members on digital tools and technologies to enhance productivity.

Monitor advancements in urban planning technology and assess their applicability to current projects.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement through the adoption of digital solutions.


People and Team Engagement:

Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain skilled personnel for the urban planning team.

Drive and enhance employee engagement across the team to sustain a positive workplace culture.

Lead, inspire, and mentor the team to foster a high-performance culture and ensure cross-skilling through job rotation, technical, and behavioral training.

Ensure proper succession planning in the team to prepare for future leadership needs.

Foster a conducive environment for high employee retention by ensuring team satisfaction and professional development.

Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
