Safety Manager

Role & responsibilities

1. Development and Maintenance of Safety Programs
   Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs tailored to the unique hazards of ammunition manufacturing. This includes conducting risk assessments, preparing emergency response plans, and developing training modules.
2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation
   Perform detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards within the plant. Develop and implement effective strategies to mitigate identified risks and ensure a safe working environment.
3. Incident Investigation and Corrective Action
   Investigate all incidents and accidents to determine root causes. Implement corrective and preventive actions, and maintain accurate documentation and records of all safety-related events.
4. Regulatory Compliance
   Ensure full compliance with applicable safety regulations, legal requirements, and industry best practices specific to ammunition manufacturing and explosive handling.
5. Employee Safety Training
   Conduct regular safety training sessions for all employees. Topics include hazard identification, emergency procedures, safe work practices, and proper handling of explosives and hazardous materials.
6. Promotion of Safety Culture
   Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging employee involvement in safety initiatives, promoting safe behaviors, and providing continuous feedback on safety performance.
7. Monitoring and Improvement of Safety Performance
   Track and analyze safety performance metrics. Identify trends, highlight areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to enhance overall plant safety.
8. Cross-Departmental Collaboration
   Work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and other departments to ensure that safety considerations are integrated into all operational activities and decision-making processes.
9. Environmental Compliance Awareness
   Maintain awareness and ensure adherence to environmental compliance requirements as per the Consent to Operate (CTO) of the plant.
10. Hazardous Waste and Explosives Disposal
    Be well-versed in the procedures for the safe and compliant disposal of hazardous waste and explosives, in accordance with regulatory and environmental standards.

Educational Qualification:

Must: • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as safety engineering, industrial hygiene, or a related discipline. • Relevant certifications, such as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP)/NEBOSH. Desirable • Good problem-solving skills • Experience with incident investigation and root cause analysis.

Relevant Experience:

Must - Extensive knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices related to ammunition manufacturing. •

Experience in developing and implementing safety programs in a manufacturing environment.

Desirable- Working Experience in Explosive handling/manufacturing industry. • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Knowledge of relevant safety equipment and technologies.
