Job Overview:


Essential Job Duties:


  • Talent Management: Selection, Onboarding, Training and Retention
  • Responsible for selection, training, development and performance management for assigned staff.
  • Ensure that the assigned staff work to the highest standard in compliance with current SOPs, relevant guidelines, policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide input to relevant SOPs and standard plans when applicable.
  • Hold staff accountable for the development, implementation and adherence to relevant SOPs and guidelines.
  • Perform staff recruitment through screening and interviewing.

Budget and Finance


  • Implement strategies to acheive the divisions productivity goal.
  • Support the maximization of the profitability of the operations in assigned countries ensuring that all the delivers are met on time.
  • Monitor cost overruns, including headcount overgrowth. Propose and agree with relevant functional managers strategies for delivering savings or remedies for issues observed for assigned responsibilities.
  • Monitor and assess with relevant functional managers staff allocation within the country(ies).
  • Support Budget and Proposals and commercial team for local opportunities.
  • Support Contracts and legal budget for statutory documents preparation and signature as needed.
  • Manage status of assigned workload for resource needs.
  • Perform high level review of billable hours and associated utilization of assigned objectives and take actions when appropriate.
  • Financial authority in accordance with current signature approval matrix.
  • Accountable for expense management, expense report approval and compliqance with Travel policy of direct reports.
  • Develop and grow business in the country by advising global and local managers of cross-functional opportunities.

Operational Excellence


  • Manager the quality control processes to assure quality metrics and quality delivery.
  • Hold direct reports accountable for compliance to productivity and quality metrics and dashboard objectives such as deliver site identification, start up, patient enrollment, data cleaning and related objectives.
  • Coach staff to own effective investigator relations and investigator oversight at the local level.
  • Ensure that staff and team maintain effective levels of communication and working relationships with all other departments.
  • Drive the use of standaridized processes and tools in alignment with associated policies to ensure efficiency and productivity.
  • Facilitate problem solving for the area of responsibility, own and execute corrective and preventive actions
  • Accountable to ensure adherence to new country regulatory information and changes to local drug law.
  • May act as back up for the next level management duties.
  • Perform other duties as required by Management.

Leadership


  • Drive department sourcing strategy within designated area of responsibility including ensuring the right talent are assigned to the right projects and right time; ensure that the talent is fully utilized.
  • Effective leader in a matrix organization and demonstrate ability to influence peers and other departments.
  • Effectively lead in a complex environment, set clear expectation, mentor and coach for success, consistently communicate and connect, foster a continuous learning environment.

  • Partner with other functions HR, Legal etc. Provide input on salary adjustments/ proposals and functional levels; recognize local labour market conditions that affect compensation and incorporate knowledge of such conditions into recommended salary changes.
  • Drive relevant process improvement initiatives.
  • Represent Covance to external parties within the area of responsibility.
  • Network and share business development opportunity information with other Covance functions.
  • Support bid - defence meetings as a country expert.
  • May manage assignments of third party employees within area of responsibility.
  • Work closely with the global Regulatory group and Project Management teams in managing local regulatory matters.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory requirement compliance through working with/ employing local regulatory experts.
  • Participate in Internal/ External audits, regulatory agency inspections, as required.
  • Act in a Lead line manager capacity for specific country(ies) when required.

Client Facing


  • Might be requested for client facing environment.
  • Represent the department at client and other meetings when requested.
  • Act in a Lead line manager capacity for a specific client when required.

Education/Qualifications:


  • Masters or other advanced degree from an accredited institution.

Experience:


  • Minimum of 5 Years of supervisory experience in a healthcare or clinical research setting and minimum of 7 Years relevant clinical research experience in a pharmaceutical company.
  • Thorough knowledge of drug development process.
  • Thorough knowledge of SOPs, ICH and GCP guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead by example and to encourage team members to seek solutions.
  • Proven Interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills.
