Application story
i applied on AICTE official web portal and within 20-25 days got interview call,Introduction
My internship at the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell was a transformative experience that provided me with valuable insights into the workings of a government department, enhanced my technical skills, and allowed me to make a significant contribution by organizing the Kavach Hackathon. Over the course of six months, I had the privilege of working with a dedicated team, engaging in challenging tasks, and interacting with talented individuals who shared a passion for innovation and education.
The day of the interview: -
After submitting my application for the internship, I received an invitation for an online video conference interview. Upon logging in, I was instructed to wait in the virtual lobby until my scheduled time slot. Unfortunately, there was a delay of approximately 30 minutes beyond my designated slot, leaving me anxious that I might have missed my chance. However, just when my concerns were mounting, my turn finally arrived, and I was granted access to the meeting.
Upon entering, I found myself facing the HR team and the entire interview committee, consisting of about 5 to 6 individuals, each with a high level of technical expertise spanning different domains. Some innovation officers were also present. Nearly every participant posed 2 to 3 questions, mostly related to web development, which was the focus of the internship role I had applied for.
The experience of being interviewed by a panel of 5 to 6 professionals simultaneously was entirely new to me. It resembled the format of an IAS interview, with the interviewers seated together at the same table. Initially, I was daunted by the prospect of answering questions from multiple individuals, as it was significantly more challenging than a standard one-to-one interview. However, after a moment of uncertainty, I managed to compose myself, and the interview proceeded relatively smoothly.
Fortunately, I successfully passed this challenging interview. Out of a pool of 60 to 100 candidates, only 15 were selected for the internship, and I was fortunate to be among them. Subsequently, I received an offer to join the internship program, which required me to relocate to New Delhi, a transition I made while balancing my college commitments.
My First Day at Internship: -
As I walked into the government office on my first day of the internship, a mix of anticipation and excitement coursed through me. The building's imposing architecture and the bustling atmosphere of professionals going about their duties lent an air of importance to the place. I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride at being a part of this institution.
The receptionist greeted me warmly and directed me to the Human Resources department, where I was to complete some administrative formalities. The paperwork was meticulous, and it included everything from verifying my identification to signing confidentiality agreements. It was clear that this internship was no ordinary experience; it was a window into the intricate workings of government operations.
Once the paperwork was sorted, I was escorted to my designated workspace. It was a neat cubicle with a computer, phone, and a stack of orientation materials. My Reporting officer, Ms. Selvarani, welcomed me with a friendly smile and introduced me to my team members. They all seemed genuinely interested in helping me get acclimated and succeed during my time there.
Then after some time, we were asked much of what we already knew and told us about the project we had to work, I began delving into the initial tasks assigned to me. It felt like a plunge into the deep end of a pool, but my colleagues were patient and ready to assist whenever I had questions. They explained the intricacies of the projects I would be working on and the specific goals we aimed to achieve.
It was little difficult but any how I managed, many of the tasks were very difficult and brought me thoughts that how 6 months will I sustain as some tasks were difficult but any how I managed.
As the day ended, I couldn't help but reflect on how much I had learned in just one day. The challenges ahead were evident, but so was the potential for growth and contribution. My first day at the government internship had left me feeling both humbled and invigorated and I was eager to embrace the opportunities and responsibilities that lay ahead.
Little did I know that this internship would not only be a valuable learning experience but also a chance to make a meaningful impact on the community I served. With each passing day, I was ready to immerse myself further into the world of government service, knowing that it was a privilege to be a part of an institution dedicated to the betterment of society.
