Asked in companies
Morgan StanleyDunzoOYO

You are given a Singly Linked List of integers. Return true if it has a cycle, else return false.

A cycle occurs when a node's next points back to a previous node in the list.

Example:
In the given linked list, there is a cycle, hence we return true.

Sample Example 1

Problem approach

Check whether there exists a loop in the linked list or not.

You have given two 32 bit signed integers, and you have to check if their multiplication will overflow 32 bit signed integer or not.

An integer overflow occurs when you attempt to store inside an integer variable a value that is larger than the maximum value the variable can hold.

Problem approach

I had 2 integers which I had to multiply with each other and had to store the result in an integer only by handling the overflow condition.

1. Merge Two Sorted Linked Lists

Asked in companies
HSBCAmazonApple

You are given two sorted linked lists. You have to merge them to produce a combined sorted linked list. You need to return the head of the final linked list.

Note:

The given linked lists may or may not be null.

For example:

If the first list is: 1 -> 4 -> 5 -> NULL and the second list is: 2 -> 3 -> 5 -> NULL

The final list would be: 1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> 5 -> 5 -> NULL

2. LRU Cache Implementation

Design and implement a data structure for Least Recently Used (LRU) cache to support the following operations:

1. get(key) - Return the value of the key if the key exists in the cache, otherwise return -1.

2. put(key, value), Insert the value in the cache if the key is not already present or update the value of the given key if the key is already present. When the cache reaches its capacity, it should invalidate the least recently used item before inserting the new item.
You will be given ‘Q’ queries. Each query will belong to one of these two types:
Type 0: for get(key) operation.
Type 1: for put(key, value) operation.
Note :
1. The cache is initialized with a capacity (the maximum number of unique keys it can hold at a time).

2. Access to an item or key is defined as a get or a put operation on the key. The least recently used key is the one with the oldest access time.
Problem approach
