I was impacted by layoffs from PayPal and I had 3+ Years of Experience back then. I was just revising DSA and System Design, it was not new to me as I had done a lot of coding questions online.
Application story
I was actively applying to jobs on LinkedIn and I got a call from the HR for the job interview. It had 2 Technical and 1 Managerial round.
Why selected/rejected for the role?
I got selected for this role. This role and interview from backbase demanded more of technology specific questions rather than DSA or problem solving. Questions mostly revolved around java.
Preparation
Duration: 6 months
Topics: DSA, OOPS, System Design, HLD, LLD, Behavioural Science, CS Fundamentals (OS, DBMS, Computer Networks)
Tip 1: Understand the problem statement properly and think from brute force approach to slowly optimize your solution to the most optimal solution.
Tip 2: Identify the potential edge cases before coding your solution.
Tip 3: Try to see that your code runs in the first go with out any syntax errors or any test cases being failed.

This round was just discussion with the HR and it was very informal and casual.
1. Puzzle
Measure Time by Burning Rope Puzzle- Often asked in interviews.
Problem approach
Tip 1: You could refer online learning platforms for puzzles mostly companies repeat the puzzles.
Tip 2: Keep it very casual discussion and be confident.
Tip 3: Go through your resume very well and be prepared for getting any questions from resume.

Problem approach
I was not fully prepared with java tech based questions. But i had knowledge of java in the past. so that helped me answer most of the questions. You can refer online learning platforms for all the solutions.

It was like a managerial discussion mostly focused on my personality.
1. HR Questions
- I was asked about my strengths and weaknesses.
- Why I am leaving my current company? Where do I see myself in next 5 years?
- When you have multiple tasks to be done on priority then how do you solve them what strategy would you use?
- Why do you want to join our company?
- How would you handle a failure, if yes, how you overcome that?
- How have you handled some difficult task in your project?
Problem approach
Tip 1: Be prepared with your resume. Most of the questions will be asked from your resume.
Tip 2: Make sure you are confident and try to answer with some past experiences you faced and try not to say NO for any question.
Tip 3: Try not to lie anything on your resume.
