Journey
I got the offer through college placements. I was just less interested in development part that's why I was looking for some other roles like Support roles or analyst roles so when I got to know about this cognizant role, I immediately applied for it and eagerly wanted to join. So, my interview experience was quite good. It was in 3-4 stages. 1) First of all, I applied for the role through a portal 'Superset' . It was a basic form like academic details, personal details and contact details and then we were requested to wait until shortlisting. 2) Then, I was shortlisted for the company as I was fulfilling all the requirements like min. 60% in 10th, 12th and graduation. 3) After shortlisting, there was a computer based test which was of around 1:30-2 hours and it consist of three sections, first one was english, second one was quants+logical reasoning, and third one was basic computer fundamentals. 4) After this test, I was shortlisted for the second round, which was a english speaking round, in which our english is tested. There are certain topics, situations and POV and we have to speak on it for about a minute, some complex sentences are written on the screen and we have to repeat it and more questions like these are asked. This was also computer based test. We have to record our answers. 5) Then after this, I was shortlisted for PI round which was basically TR+HR (Technical Round + HR Round) . In this round, the penalist asked me some basic HR questions like 'why should we hire you, where do you see yourself in 5 years, why you want to work with us, etc. Then some basic technical questions of language I was comfortable with were asked, I said I am comfortable with python, so they asked tell us frameworks of python, why python, what type of language is python. I dont know why but no code solving was asked. Some of my batchmates were asked to solve the code or solve a quants question as well but maybe interviewer was not in a mood or I dont know. 5) And then, final shortlisting happened and I got a mail that I have been selected for the company and finally I got the LOI(Letter of Intent).

Why selected/rejected for the role?
I was selected because I was able to impress the penalist, the penalist also said that it should be more like a conversation less like a interview and that's what I did, I just became friend of him for some time like I was meeting him in person, I just greeted him very well and after the interview was over I just asked about his journey and where he is from and any mistakes that I have done in the interview and things like that and I think this conversation at the end was the reason for my selection.

Tip

Tip 1 : Focus on your projects, you should know in and out of your projects you have mentioned on your CV
Tip 2 : Don't only focus on coding, learn some HR questions as well
Tip 3 : Don't only practice coding questions, practice basics as well, penalists sometimes ask basics only, and students are unable to answer it properly.
