Journey
One must have patience, not lose confidence when they cannot crack the technical tests of certain companies initially and keep practicing while properly analyzing their shortcomings. I admit I am no master at competitive programming, but I have all the basic DSA and problem-solving strategies (thanks to Coding Ninjas recorded self-paced courses). It depends on the situation, the opportunity, and how we act.
Application story
Campus Placement Email. Then came the online test. Only one coding question was asked for one hour. And I found the best solution for it.
Why selected/rejected for the role?
The way I brought both myself and my resume to life during the one-hour interview. Be excited and energetic throughout the interview process. Sometimes, discussions can be extended, but please don't show your tiredness and try to be consistent from start to finish. Do not provide false information or discuss things you don't know. Politely and professionally tell the truth and say that you are either learning it or will learn it in the future. You should be able to explain your projects as if you were explaining them to a six-year-old, from scratch to the result.
Preparation
Duration: 12 months
Topics: Data Structures, Algorithms, Aptitude, Greedy Solving, Dynamic Programming, DBMS, SQL
Tip 1: Do not stop practicing. Some people start early, then take a break for two or three weeks. Don’t make this mistake. You should also include breaks in between your study sessions.
Tip 2: Take care of your health.
Tip 3: Rather than memorizing standard questions, I suggest understanding the techniques (e.g., greedy, dynamic programming) and trying new problems.
Tip 4: Discuss with friends, but don’t waste time just talking and speculating about questions without hands-on coding.
Tip 5: Master aptitude and learn the fundamental concepts of DBMS, networking, operating systems, cloud computing, and statistics.
Tip 6: Focus on your resume and projects.
Tip 7: C++ is essential. Sometimes, companies allow programming only in C++.
Tip 8: During a face-to-face interview, do not panic, get nervous, or stammer. Answer confidently (slowly but briskly, if needed).

1. Greedy Algorithm For Ninja And The Coins

Ninja went to the toffee shop, and he purchased some toffies worth 'V' cents. Ninja has an unlimited supply of coins of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1000 cents. Now Ninja wants to know the minimum number of coins he needs to pay to the shopkeeper.
Your task is to find the minimum number of coins Ninja needs to pay to the shopkeeper so as to pay 'V' cents to him.
Note: You have to solve this problem using the greedy approach.
Example:
Input: 'V' = 60
Output: 2
Ninja need to pay two coins only 50 + 10 = 60
