Tip 1 : Regarding DSA preparation, I have a theory. 20 percent of the questions will be asked in 80 percent of the interview and 80 percent of the questions will be asked in 20 percent of the interviews. In short, some questions have a very high chance of coming up during the interviews and some have very low chance. We should focus more on the questions that have more chance of coming up in the interview.
Tip 2 : Try to find patterns in the questions. Group them according to a pattern for better understanding. Make notes in Excel, word or hand written and revise them.
Tip 3 : Try to solve the questions that have more chance of coming up in the interview with many different approaches.

You are given an array of pairs of strings 'EQUATIONS', and an array of real numbers 'VALUES'. Each element of the 'EQUATIONS' array denotes a fraction where the first string denotes the numerator variable and the second string denotes the denominator variable, and the corresponding element in 'VALUES' denotes the value this fraction is equal to.

You are given ‘Q’ queries, and each query consists of two strings representing the numerator and the denominator of a fraction. You have to return the value of the given fraction for each query. Return -1 if the value cannot be determined.

Example :
'EQUATIONS' = { {“a”, ”s”} , {“s”, “r”} }
'VALUES' = { 1.5, 2 }
queries = { {“a”, “r” } }

For the above example (a / s) = 1.5 and (s / r) = 2 therefore (a / r) = 1.5 * 2 = 3.

You have been given an array 'ARR' of 'N' distinct elements.

Your task is to find the minimum no. of swaps required to sort the array.

For example:
For the given input array [4, 3, 2, 1], the minimum no. of swaps required to sort the array is 2, i.e. swap index 0 with 3 and 1 with 2 to form the sorted array [1, 2, 3, 4].

1. OS Questions

  1. Why is the operating system important?
  2. What is RAID structure in OS? What are the different levels of RAID configuration?
Problem approach
  • OS is the most essential and vital part of a computer without which it is considered useless. It enables an interface or acts like a link for interaction between computer software that is installed on OS and users. It also helps to communicate with hardware and also maintains balance among hardware and CPU. It also provides services to users and a platform for programs to run on. It performs all common tasks applications require.
  • RAID (Redundant Arrays of Independent Disks) is a method used to store data on Multiple hard disks therefore it is considered as data storage virtualization technology that combines multiple hard disks. It simply balances data protection, system performance, storage space, etc. It is used to improve the overall performance and reliability of data storage. It also increases the storage capacity of the system and its main purpose is to achieve data redundancy to reduce data loss.
