Journey
I applied for the SDE role at LTI Mindtree and appeared for their online assessment, which was structured across six key modules: English Comprehension (15 mins) Logical Ability (15 mins) Quantitative Ability (15 mins) Computer Programming (Coding) (35 mins) Computer Science Fundamentals (20 mins) Spoken English (AI-based) (20 mins) I prepared through consistent practice on aptitude platforms, brushing up on core CS subjects like OS, DBMS, and OOP, while also revising Python and DSA for the programming section. The coding round featured moderate-level problems, and I attempted both with logical and optimized solutions. Despite putting in my best efforts, I wasn't selected. I believe some candidates may have performed better overall, possibly in the spoken English or core CS sections. However, the experience helped me identify specific areas for improvement—especially in balancing speed and accuracy across multiple timed modules.
Application story
I applied for the SDE role at LTI Mindtree through my college placement cell. The profile excited me because it offered a well-rounded assessment across coding, aptitude, and communication skills—key areas I had been preparing for. The online test consisted of six modules: English comprehension, logical ability, quantitative ability, computer programming, CS fundamentals, and a spoken English round. I practiced regularly on coding platforms and revised core CS concepts and communication skills. Although I cleared multiple sections confidently, I wasn’t selected in the final shortlist. I believe the competition was tough, and some candidates may have performed better in specific modules. Still, it was a valuable learning experience that highlighted exactly where I need to improve for future SDE roles.
Why selected/rejected for the role?
I wasn’t selected, likely due to high competition. Many candidates performed exceptionally well across all modules, and while I gave my best, some sections—possibly spoken English or core CS—may not have matched the top performers. The process helped me identify areas to strengthen, and I’m now better prepared for future opportunities.

Tip
Tip

Tip 1: Balance Speed and Accuracy Across Sections:
With short durations (15–20 minutes per section), practice solving aptitude and CS questions under time pressure. Use mock tests to improve both speed and precision.

Tip 2: Prepare for the Spoken English Round:
Many underestimate this AI-evaluated round. Practice speaking clearly, confidently, and with correct grammar. Use apps like Eloquence or record yourself answering common prompts to improve fluency and tone.

Resume Tip
Resume tip

Tip 1: Highlight Section-Wise Skills Matching the Test Modules:
Structure your resume to reflect the skills assessed in the test. For example, mention communication skills under extracurriculars, core CS concepts (DBMS, OS, OOP) under technical skills, and DSA/project work under academic projects.

Tip 2: Include Keywords from Job Descriptions:
Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) often screen resumes first. Naturally incorporate keywords like “problem-solving,” “software development,” “data structures,” “object-oriented programming,” and “team collaboration” into your bullet points to align with the role.

Given a string, write a program to count the number of vowels, consonants, and spaces in that string.

EXAMPLE :
Input: ‘N’= 25, ‘s’ =”Take u forward is Awesome”
Output: 10 11 4
Problem approach

Step 1: Create a set or list of vowels: a, e, i, o, u (include both uppercase and lowercase if needed).

Step 2: Initialize a counter to 0. This will keep track of how many vowels are found.

Step 3: Loop through each character of the string.

Step 4: For each character, check if it is a vowel (i.e., if it exists in the set of vowels).

Step 5: If it is a vowel, increment the counter.

Step 6: After the loop ends, the counter will hold the total number of vowels.

Step 7: Return or print the counter as the final result.
