Journey
In the lockdown period, I started my journey to where I am today. When the first lockdown prevailed I started to learn DSA, and I think that was the best time to learn DSA because no pressure from college was there for its useless assignments and all. In the lockdown of around 6 months, I learnt the basic algorithms and at the end I started practising on leetcode and codechef like platforms, they helped me a lot during my journey.
Application story
I got a message in my telegram group about the company visiting our campus for the hiring of SDE-1. As, I was in the fourth year, it was sure that I am going to apply for it. I started preparing accordingly and got selected at last
Why selected/rejected for the role?
I think my skills and knowledge were up to the mark that they found me as a valuable candidate. Moreover, my communication skills added up to my numbers.

1. Container with most water

Given a sequence of ‘N’ space-separated non-negative integers A[1],A[2],A[3],......A[i]…...A[n]. Where each number of the sequence represents the height of the line drawn at point 'i'. Hence on the cartesian plane, each line is drawn from coordinate ('i',0) to coordinate ('i', 'A[i]'), here ‘i’ ranges from 1 to ‘N’. Find two lines, which, together with the x-axis forms a container, such that the container contains the most area of water.

Note :
1. You can not slant the container i.e. the height of the water is equal to the minimum height of the two lines which define the container.

2. Do not print anything, you just need to return the area of the container with maximum water.
Example

water-diagram

For the above Diagram, the first red marked line is formed between coordinates (2,0) and (2,10), and the second red-marked line is formed between coordinates (5,0) and (5,9). The area of water contained between these two lines is (height* width) = (5-2)* 9 = 27, which is the maximum area contained between any two lines present on the plane. So in this case, we will return 3* 9=27.

Given a ‘N’ * ’M’ maze with obstacles, count and return the number of unique paths to reach the right-bottom cell from the top-left cell. A cell in the given maze has a value '-1' if it is a blockage or dead-end, else 0. From a given cell, we are allowed to move to cells (i+1, j) and (i, j+1) only. Since the answer can be large, print it modulo 10^9 + 7.

For Example :
Consider the maze below :
0 0 0
0 -1 0
0 0 0

There are two ways to reach the bottom left corner -

(1, 1) -> (1, 2) -> (1, 3) -> (2, 3) -> (3, 3)
(1, 1) -> (2, 1) -> (3, 1) -> (3, 2) -> (3, 3)

Hence the answer for the above test case is 2.

Coding problem2

This was an Online F2F Technical Round conducted on CodePair : Hackerrank. So, Basically You have to Run and Submit ( Pass All Test cases) in the Interview Round also (Like normal Coding Test) in Codepair : Hackerrank & along with that You should have to explain your Code and Approach to the Interviewers.
The Interviewers were helpful and didn't hesitate in giving hints.
Timing - 10:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M

1. Minimum Fountains

There is a one-dimensional garden of length 'N'. On each of the positions from 0 to 'N', there is a fountain, and this fountain’s water can reach up to a certain range as explained further. In other words, there are 'N' + 1 fountains located at positions 0, 1, 2, 3, …. 'N' which can be activated in the garden.

You are given an integer 'N' and an array/list 'ARR' of length 'N' + 1, where each index of the array denotes the coverage limit of a particular fountain.

A fountain at index 'i' can water the area ranging from the position 'i' - 'ARR'['i'] to 'i' + 'ARR'['i'].

Your task is to find the minimum number of fountains that have to be activated such that the whole garden from position 0 to 'N' has access to the water from at least some fountain.

Note:

1. 0-based indexing is used in the array.
2. We only care about the garden from 0 to 'N' only. So if i - 'ARR'['i'] < 0 or i + 'ARR'['i'] > 'N', you may ignore the exceeding area.
3. If some fountain covers the garden from position 'A' to position 'B', it means that the water from this fountain will spread to the whole line segment with endpoints 'A' and 'B'.

You are given a list of ‘transactions’ between ‘n’ number of friends. who have to give each other money. The list consists of data of receiver, sender, and transaction.

Your task is to minimize the cash flow and the total number of transactions should also be minimum.

For example :

subsequence

In figure 1 : friend-1 has to pay 2000$ to friend-2, and 4000$ to friend-3 and friend-2 has to pay 3000$ to friend-3.

In figure 2 : so we can minimize the flow between friend-1 to friend-2 by direct pay to friend-1 to friend-3
