Journey
I am from Thapar University, and that too, the Covid year batch. Consequently, I only attended college during the placement year. After cracking Thapar, I felt relieved knowing that the median CTC here is above 11 and there's a 100% placement rate in the CSE branch. Therefore, I believed I would secure a good job. Throughout college, I remained relaxed, having only heard from seniors to maintain a CGPA above 7. However, due to the Covid situation and the surge in cheating during online tests, which our college follows competitive grading, our grades were influenced by the topper, who was usually the best at cheating. Nonetheless, I managed to maintain my CGPA until the 5th semester. In the 6th semester, a professor failed almost our entire class. Despite my attempts to reason with him for three hours in his cabin after the results were announced, he didn't listen. Eventually, I cleared the course during the summer, but it was just before the placement year, so there was a delay in updating my CGPA. As a result, most good companies didn't consider me. However, I had other sources of income, so I rejected offers from bad companies.
Additionally, in 2023, when the recession hit and the market worsened, I remained determined to pursue opportunities in good companies only. I must confess that since I hardly attended college, I hadn't engaged in any DSA. I learned the hard way that without DSA skills, achieving success is challenging. Consequently, I invested in a course offered by Scalar, despite its high cost, which I paid through installments. Although many didn't fare well through Scalar due to the recession, I was determined to succeed. Despite juggling jobs, college, and other responsibilities, I maintained perfect attendance and solved every assignment question before the next class. Even when I had midterms and finals, I never missed a class or skipped an assignment. My PSP (Problem Solving Percentage) on Scalar questions remained at 100%. I even prioritized Scalar classes and assignments over exams, often studying late into the night before an exam. By the time the Scalar DSA course ended, I had solved over 500 problems and even participated in CodeChef contests, achieving a rating of 1700+ in my first attempt.
In summary, the key to my success can be attributed to consistency. Regardless of how crucial other aspects of life, such as exams, office work, or college assignments, may seem, prioritizing consistency is paramount. Even missing just one day can break your consistency. I've witnessed many blame Scalar, Coding Ninjas, or other courses for their failures, but the reality is that no course can guarantee success if you lack consistency. As Anshuman, the founder of Scalar, emphasized from the very beginning, success depends on your efforts. If you're not consistent, no course in the world can compensate for it.
Application story
The recruiter contacted me through Naukri, and yes, I have made a very good resume. I used a resume checker to assess my resume score. This was either my first or second opportunity, and I accepted it. Later, I received test links from Flipkart, Salesforce, Juspay, DE Shaw, Autodesk, and the list goes on, all because my resume score is 97+.
