Company: Zerodha

Profile: Asst. Sales Manager

Salary: 2.02LPA+ incentives

Place: Zerodha Sales Office

Number of rounds:  4

Result: I got selected in this company

I applied for the position of an Asst. Sales Manager at Zerodha, Bangalore through my college. It was an off-campus placement drive that took place at the corporate office of the company. I faced a total of four rounds at Zerodha Bangalore, in my placement test for the position of an Assistant Sales Manager.

Detailed Zerodha career placement experience

The interview started with an Aptitude test followed by a heated group discussion, online aptitude test and a quality test after the first round. In the Zerodha group discussion round, we were divided in groups of 15 and were taken to the GD room. The HR came into the room and announced that selected candidates were required to join immediately (i.e. I should go ahead with the GD round only if I was willing to join in just 3 days. They were not ready to accept any excuses about notice period at the moment). After this we were asked to have a group discussion on the topic ‘Is online trading good or bad?’ Everyone stated their views. Out of the group, only 9 of us were shortlisted for the next round. Later, just 5 people were shortlisted for the final round after the HR interview. The last and final round was the quality test. I was asked normal questions like, ‘How will you handle pressure in a particular situation?’ ‘How are you different from others?’ etc.

What were the rounds you faced in your Zerodha Bangalore interview?

I faced the following rounds in my Zerodha placement interview test.

1.Aptitude test in Zerodha placement

What is an aptitude test? In my Zerodha placement interview, it was an assessment to evaluate my potential to answer true/false/cannot say verbal reasoning questions correctly. The numerical portion of this test was a very basic one. Test structure consisted of numerical operations and basic calculations without the use of a calculator.

2.Group discussion round in Zerodha placement interview or JAM

What is a group discussion? In my Zerodha GD round, we were divided into 10 groups of 15 candidates. We were given a topic to discuss and exchange information face-to-face, to increase each other’s knowledge, disagree on certain points and agree on some. Our polite arguments and discussions led us to clear the air and eventually get selected and appear for the next round.

3.HR round in Zerodha career placement

In my Zerodha interview process, the HR round was a simple formal discussion. Here, the HR manager who was also my hirer, spoke to me as an applicant or candidate. The data or information I shared with them was simply to put forth my intent to establish my suitability as a worthy applicant for the position of Asst. Sales Manager at Zerodha Bangalore. Some questions I faced were as follows:

Q1. Do you have any other offer at hand?
Ans. No Sir, I don’t have any offers yet.

Q2.Why haven’t you received any job offers yet?
Ans.This is the first placement drive I am attending. That’s why.

Q3.What do you do to improve your knowledge?
Ans. I am a bit old school so I read the entire newspaper daily. I also do a lot of reading on the side and also keep my self-updated about industry trends.

Q4.What are the various career options you are considering right now?
Ans. This is the only one at the moment. I should be lucky if it works out.

Q5.Tell me about your hobbies?
Ans. I am a singer and a guitarist. My hobbies include jamming with my college band during weekends and also having our own private roof-top concerts.😊

Q6.What is your way of measuring success?

Ans. There is no fixed formula to measure success. Besides, I don’t believe in judging myself or others around me. But I do believe that anybody who has happy relationships, a successful career, and good health is a successful person.

Q7.Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Ans. I see myself as a successful Sales head in a reputed organization.

Q8.Why should we hire you?
Ans. I have the right skill sets and the astuteness to do justice to this job role.

Q9.Are you a creative person?
Ans. Yes, I am. I am a trained guitarist and I am a part of the college band. 😊

Q10.How did you prepare for this interview?
Ans. I read up existing interview experiences online. I also inquired with my friends from other colleges who have attended the Zerodha placement interview drive for the role of Sales Managers.

Q11.What is the difference between confidence and overconfidence?
Ans. Confidence comes from believing in a goal and working to achieve it within a stipulated time. Over confidence is simply dreaming about a destination and assuming you will reach way in advance.

Q12.What will you do if you are offered a job with a salary higher than this?
Ans. I might consider joining it, provided the company is as good as Zerodha, which I doubt it will be.

Q13.Would you quit your career for higher education in the near future?
Ans. 3 years down the line, I might. But as of now, I am fixated on taking my career to new heights.

Q14.Are you comfortable to work in rotational shifts and also during weekends?
Ans. I am single and don’t live with my family as of now, so that would not be a problem, provided my safety is not at stake while traveling alone at off hours.

4.Quality Test Round in Zerodha interview

I was asked certain frequently asked quality assurance QA interview questions and answers at Zerodha. In some scenario-based questions, I was asked to come up with a strategy on the spot to tackle a difficult quality related situation at work. Being a fresher, I have no prior industry exposure hence this was the toughest round in my Zerodha placement interview test. All the questions I was asked in my Zerodha HR interview round emphasized more on quality processes.

How did the initial round go in the Zerodha interview?

The very first round as I mentioned above was the Aptitude test. I had to answer general aptitude questions, and some questions pertaining to Zerodha. As a prospective Assistant Sales Manager candidate for Zerodha, I answered all the questions very carefully.

What were the questions you faced in Zerodha placement interview and how did you answer these interview questions?

Some of the questions I faced were as follows:
## How will you handle pressure?
## Will you be able to reach the target given by us?
## What other abilities do you possess?
## Is online trading safe?

Tips to crack the Zerodha placement interview test.

## Learn about the company and basic mathematics.
## Be confident to answer, be spontaneous while answering.
## Stick to the topic
## Give Valid points.

The interview more or less went well. It could have been better. Thankfully I received a spot job offer and I am happily working with Zerodha. Bangalore as an Asst. Sales Manager now.
