Hi everyone, my name is Richa Srivastava and I’m thrilled to share my recent experience cracking the Wipro Software Developer on-campus placement drive in Lucknow (June 5th, 2015). This article will guide you through the entire process, from the initial rounds to the interview, with tips and resources to help you ace your own Wipro interview!

I landed a fantastic offer of INR 4,60,000 per annum, and I’m here to tell you – it’s achievable with the right preparation.

Selection Process of Wipro

Wipro’s campus recruitment typically involves three main stages:

  • Online Assessment: This initial round is conducted on platforms like Naukri Campus. It assesses your quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, verbal ability, and sometimes, a basic programming test. Brush up on these areas using online resources and practice online aptitude tests.
  • Technical Interview: Shortlisted candidates from the online test are called for a technical interview. This round delves deeper into your programming knowledge and problem-solving skills. Be prepared to discuss your projects, programming languages, data structures, algorithms, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
  • HR Interview (Optional): In some cases, a brief HR interview follows the technical round to assess your communication skills, team spirit, and work ethic. Prepare an elevator pitch about yourself and be ready to answer questions about your career goals and why you want to join Wipro.

How to Prepare for Wipro Campus Placement?

Since the online assessment forms the initial hurdle, focusing on these key areas will be immensely helpful:

  • Quantitative Ability: Brush up on basic mathematical concepts like algebra, percentages, and data interpretation. Practice online mock tests to improve your speed and accuracy.
  • Logical Reasoning: Hone your analytical skills by solving puzzles, critical thinking problems, and syllogisms. Numerous online resources offer practice aptitude tests
  • Verbal Ability: Strengthen your vocabulary and grammar skills. Practice reading comprehension passages and improve your writing abilities.
  • Programming Fundamentals: Revise core programming concepts in your preferred language (C, C++, Java, Python). Practice writing basic programs and algorithms.

Online Assessment Experience of Wipro

The online assessment lasted for an hour and consisted of MCQs in the areas mentioned above. It’s crucial to manage your time effectively – I focused on completing the easier sections first and then tackled the more challenging ones. There’s no negative marking, so don’t hesitate to make educated guesses if you’re unsure.

Interview Rounds at Wipro for Campus Placement

After a few weeks, I received the golden email – I was shortlisted for the interview rounds! Here’s a breakdown of both stages:

Technical Interview

  • Self-Introduction: Briefly introduce yourself, your educational background, and any relevant projects you’ve undertaken.
  • Technical Questions: The interviewer delved into my chosen programming language (Java in my case). Expect questions on data structures, algorithms (sorting, searching), OOP concepts (inheritance, polymorphism), and basic database concepts (SQL).
  • Live Coding Challenge: I was presented with a simple problem (reversing a string) and asked to write code to solve it on an online platform. Here, showcasing your thought process and ability to explain your code effectively is crucial.
  • Tips: Be confident, articulate your thought process clearly, and don’t hesitate to ask clarifying questions if needed. Practice writing code under pressure beforehand using online platforms.

HR Interview:

  • Motivation and Career Goals: Explain why you’re interested in Wipro and what your career aspirations are. Research the company beforehand and demonstrate your genuine interest.
  • Strengths & Weaknesses: Be honest about your strengths and weaknesses. Highlight your strengths relevant to the role and showcase how you’re working on improving your weaknesses.
  • Teamwork & Problem-Solving: Share experiences where you’ve effectively collaborated in a team setting and tackled challenges.
  • Tips: Be enthusiastic, show a positive attitude, and demonstrate your eagerness to learn and grow within the company.

Interview Experience at Wipro

The technical interview questions were a nerve-wracking but ultimately rewarding experience. The interviewer began by asking me to introduce myself and discuss my academic projects. I highlighted a project where I built a website using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This led to a discussion on web development basics, which I was well-prepared for.

Next, the interviewer presented a coding challenge involving basic sorting algorithms. I calmly explained my thought process and then wrote code to implement the chosen algorithm. We discussed the code’s efficiency and explored alternative approaches. The interviewer was impressed with my problem-solving skills and code clarity.

The entire interview process took about a week, and I was ecstatic to receive the offer letter!
