This article shares my placement experience at Ways2Capital for the Business Analyst profile in 2018 at Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur. The interview process consisted of four rounds, and I’m thrilled to share that I got selected!

Here’s a quick snapshot of my interview experience:

  • Company: Ways2Capital
  • Profile: Business Analyst
  • Location: Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur
  • Number of Rounds: 2
  • Result: Selected
  • Year: 2018

The company is known for its research-driven approach, market analysis, and timely recommendations, aiming to help clients achieve their financial goals and navigate the complexities of the financial markets.

As a Business Analyst at Ways2Capital, you can expect to play a crucial role in analyzing business processes, identifying improvement opportunities, and liaising between technical and non-technical teams.

Ways2Capital Interview Process

The Ways2Capital BA interview process at Bhilai Institute of Technology comprised two rounds:

  • Round 1: Online Aptitude Test

The first round was an online aptitude test conducted on a Naukri Campus platform. This test typically lasts for 60 minutes and evaluates your core quantitative, logical reasoning, and analytical skills, essential for a Business Analyst role.

Preparation Tips for the Online Aptitude Test:

  • Brush up on quantitative aptitude: Revise concepts like percentages, averages, ratios, and basic algebra—practice solving aptitude questions online or from reference books.
  • Sharpen your logical reasoning skills: Practice identifying patterns, completing sequences, and solving critical thinking puzzles. Online resources and logical reasoning books can be immensely helpful.
  • Focus on analytical skills: Practice analyzing data sets, identifying trends, and drawing inferences. There might be data interpretation or case-based questions in the test.

I spent a significant amount of time practicing online aptitude tests before the interview. I focused on areas where I felt less confident and ensured I could solve problems efficiently within the time limit. Time management helped me a lot in this. During the actual test, I remained calm, prioritized questions based on my strengths, and double-checked my answers before submitting.

  • Round 2: Face-to-Face Interview

The shortlisted candidates from the online test were called for a face-to-face interview with a panel consisting of senior members of the Ways2Capital team. This round is your opportunity to showcase your technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and communication etiquette.

Preparation Tips for the Face-to-Face Interview:

  • Research Ways2Capital: Get familiar with their services, domain expertise, and recent achievements. This demonstrates your genuine interest in the company.
  • Revisit your resume: Be prepared to elaborate on your projects, internships, and any relevant skills mentioned in your resume. Prepare success stories highlighting your analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Practice common BA interview questions: Research common Business Analyst interview questions and practice your responses. This could include questions about data analysis techniques, business process modeling, or specific software proficiency.
  • Prepare behavioral questions: Be ready to answer questions that assess your work ethic, teamwork abilities, and how you handle challenges. Utilize the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your responses effectively.

I arrived for the interview well-prepared, having thoroughly researched Ways2Capital and practiced common interview questions. During the interview, I focused on demonstrating my analytical thinking, communication skills, and eagerness to learn. I also highlighted my relevant coursework and projects that showcased my ability to analyze data and solve problems.

Technical Interview Experience at Ways2Capital

The technical interview assessed my analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of core Business Analyst concepts. Here are some of the questions I encountered:

  1. Tell me about a time you had to analyze a complex problem and propose a solution. (This is a common behavioral question that assesses your problem-solving approach. Use the STAR method to structure your answer – Situation, Task, Action, Result)
  2. Explain the different types of business requirements-gathering techniques. (Be prepared to discuss techniques like interviews, surveys, document analysis, etc.)
  3. How would you go about creating a user flow diagram for a new online application? (This question tests your understanding of user experience (UX) concepts)
  4. Walk me through the steps involved in conducting a feasibility study for a new project.
  5. What are your favorite data analysis tools and why? (Be prepared to discuss tools you’re familiar with, such as MS Excel, SQL, or any data visualization tools)

HR Round for Campus Placement – Ways2Capital

The HR interview was more informal and focused on getting to know me better as a candidate and assessing my cultural fit for Ways2Capital. Here are some of the questions I was asked:

  • Tell me about yourself and why you’re interested in this role at Ways2Capital. (This is your chance to make a strong first impression. Highlight your relevant skills and experiences, and express your enthusiasm for the company and the role)
  • What are your salary expectations? (Do your research beforehand to understand the average salary range for Business Analyst roles in Bhilai or similar locations)
  • What are your career goals? (This question helps the interviewer understand your long-term aspirations and how this role aligns with your goals)
  • Do you have any questions for us? (Prepare thoughtful questions about the company culture, work environment, or the role itself. This demonstrates your genuine interest)

Ways2Capital Interview Experience

The interview process at Ways2Capital was a positive experience. The interviewers were friendly and professional, and the questions were well-structured. By thoroughly preparing for both technical and HR rounds, I felt confident and was able to showcase my skills and qualifications effectively.

Some of the additional tips I would like to share for future aspirants are:

  • Research common Business Analyst interview questions online and prepare well-structured responses.
  • Tailor your responses to the specific requirements mentioned in the job description.
  • Practice active listening and ask clarifying questions to ensure you understand the interviewer’s expectations.
  • Showcase your passion for business analysis and your ability to learn and adapt quickly.
