Royal Bank of Scotland Interview details
I faced 3 rounds in my RBS interview. This was the first time I attended an interview at an MNC of such a huge scale. Hence, I was a little bit nervous, yet I did not lose hope.
Round 1 of my RBS Interview
In the first round of my RBS interview, the HR asked me several generic HR interview questions for freshers. These were:
- Introduce yourself
- My answer: “I am an avid reader and a famous music buff in my town Nagpur. I have always been a good student academically. In all 4 years of college, I quickly earned the reputation of someone who could sail through complex instructions and made it easy for the entire class to drill down on a key task. Also, I am the only child of two Mathematics teachers, who have very high expectations from me! You would have guess by now that I am not spoilt at all.“
- Do not question back saying: “What do you want to know?” or “Is there a specific area you would want me to talk about?”
- Tell me about a current affair that you are actively following.
- My answer: “I love to track the stock market and have invested my entire pocket money from college life into stocks through an ELSS. Currently I am tracking the telecom stocks. From what I see, Vodafone Idea and Bharti Airtel might not continue as they have posted unprecedented losses of Rs 50,921.9 crore and Rs 23,045 crore, respectively, for the July-September quarter. .
- Do not question back saying: “I am not into news and current affairs. I read the newspaper daily, but I cannot remember anything significant now! Could you suggest a topic?”
I cleared round 1 with ease and sailed through into the second round.
Round 2 of my RBS Interview
In the round 2 of my RBS interview, I was asked to attend an online aptitude test. The test consisted of 6 sections namely:
- Mathematical aptitude
- Verbal reasoning
- English
- RC
- Typing test
- Email writing

At my first glace of the question paper, I felt very scared as the paper seemed lengthy to me. As and when I started solving it, my fear started fizzling out. I was used to solving such papers as I had been preparing for IBPS and UPSC exams. Hence, I could easily finish the paper in time and to my relief, I cleared the second round as well.
Round 3 of my RBS Interview
In the third and final round, I faced a managerial interview. Some of the questions I was asked were:
- Give your introduction.
- What are your best skills?
- What do you know about the Royal Bank of Scotland?
I managed to answer all the questions with some nervousness. I could have sounded a little more confident, however clearing 2 rounds earlier ensured that the ball remained in my court.
My advice to freshers about RBS Interview or Drive
If you want to crack an upcoming interview at The Royal Bank of Scotland or any other MNC, please keep 3 things in mind:
1: Confidence:- It plays a very important role. As a fresher, you can sell yourself only with your confidence.
2: Communication:- Try to speak in chaste English to leave a good first impression because English Communication will be an important part of your daily life at RBS or any MNC.
3: Knowledge: Read up as much as possible about the company. Before any interview at an MNC, it is very important that you as the interviewee are aware of basic details like the headquarter location, board of directors, CEO’s name, key products and services etc. Also, research as much as possible from the web, friends, and seniors about the job position that you are interviewing for. Read the job description thoroughly and ensure to match your best skills against all the requirements.
Last but not the least, Royal Bank of Scotland India or any other company is fully aware about your standing as a fresher. So be prepared to face random questions. These will be asked to check your communication skills, confidence and will power. So just try to sound as confident and articulate as possible.
Once you check all these boxes in your mental checklist, your chances of getting selected would be 99.99% at the Royal Bank of Scotland!
All the best. 🙂
