In this article, we will understand how to install the plugin in different ways. There are three methods to install plugins. Let’s look at them one by one.

WordPress Plugin

First, let's understand what a WordPress plugin actually is. So WordPress plugins are small software program apps that combine and run on top of WordPress. This permits you to create nearly any type of website with WordPress. As an example, you can even start a web page of Online Store for your business with WordPress using the WooCommerce plugin.

How to install?

Installing using Search Bar

Installing Manually

Another method to install the plugin using WordPress is by manually uploading the plugin files through WordPress files.

Before you begin your installation process, you have to first download the plugin ZIP file from your chosen source. Then go to the admin area of your WordPress and click on Plugins -> Add New. After that, click on the Upload Plugin button on the upper left corner.

Installing using an FTP Client

This method is the least friendly for beginners. In some rare cases, your WordPress hosting supplier could have file restrictions that might limit your ability to put in a plugin from the admin area. So in this situation, the best way to install the plugin is by using FTP Client. As a beginner, it might be a tough task for you to do as you will learn about the configuration of the FTP client later. But No worries, just follow these easy steps and start using your plugins.

In the first step, you have to extract the ZIP file of the plugin and save it in your desktop. Remember, you need to upload only the extracted ZIP file of the plugin through the FTP client.

The next step for you is to get access to your host through the FTP manager. And, if you don’t have the username and password, contact your WordPress hosting provider; otherwise, connect your website to an FTP server.

Once connected to the server, you’ve to go to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on your website.

After that, upload the folder that you extracted from the zip file to the /wp-content/plugins/ folder on your server.
